A shiny black Brabus G-Wagon drove slowly through the snowy roads of the Lebedev Estate.
It was still very early in the morning, so its headlights lit up the winter scenery.
Inside the SUV was very warm thanks to the heater.
Emma sat comfortably in the passenger seat, holding a small ceramic bowl on her lap. Steam rose from the dish as she shoveled another bite into her mouth and savored the Russian delicacy with delight.

The only sound for a while was the deep growl of the engine—until Scott's brow twitched. He kept one hand on the wheel, the other running through his hair in the rearview mirror as he tried to get a stubborn strand to settle.
Then he heard it.
Munch. Munch. Munch.
His eyes slowly slid sideways.
Emma froze mid-chew under his stare, her cheeks puffed out like a guilty squirrel storing nuts for winter.
"What…?"
She mumbled, half her words swallowed by the food.
Scott said nothing.
