May 13th, Wednesday.
This appeared to be an ordinary day - students attended school as usual, and adults went to work normally, as if it were no different from any other typical weekday.
However, a monumental event was taking place today that had captured worldwide attention!
Shiny Elite, the youngest Elite Four member in the history of China, was about to challenge the China Champion!
As one of the world's top superpowers, China's annual championship battle inevitably attracted global interest and scrutiny.
Therefore, even before Chris and Marvin had arrived at the National Pokemon Arena, hundreds of domestic and international media cameras had already been positioned throughout the venue's entrance areas.
Massive crowds had gathered not only inside the National Pokemon Arena, but also in all the surrounding areas. Dozens of streets were completely packed with spectators, forcing the government to deploy thousands of security personnel to maintain order and ensure everything proceeded smoothly.
"Wow, the enthusiasm here is really incredible," Chris remarked as he casually strolled into the VIP entrance.
Although countless people were blocking the main entrances, they completely ignored Chris's presence as he walked past them.
"Thank goodness I have Zoroark with me," he thought gratefully.
Once Zoroark's Illusion ability was activated, Chris became essentially invisible to everyone around him. Only Ghost-type Pokemon stronger than Zoroark would be capable of seeing through the deception.
And Zoroark was currently equipped with the Spooky Plate, a powerful type-enhancing item.
Sorry, but unless legendary Pokemon like Giratina or Arceus showed up personally, there wouldn't be any Ghost-type Pokemon in this world more powerful than his!
Zoroark struck a proud pose with its hands on its hips, clearly pleased with its abilities.
The crowds blocking the VIP entrance had no idea that Chris had successfully infiltrated the National Pokemon Arena until they heard the announcement that the battle was about to begin.
Chris entered his designated private lounge area.
He settled back comfortably onto the sofa to rest, already familiar with the facility.
This wasn't his first visit to the National Pokemon Arena. The last time he had been here was during his battle against Elian in the Elite Four Challenge.
He picked up his phone to find numerous messages from teachers, seniors, classmates, and friends offering their encouragement and support.
Denver: "Already settled in and waiting for your performance."
Elliot: "Junior, charge forward! Go get them! o(¯^¯#)"
Alexis: "Junior, it's our duty to restore the glory of the Vladimir family!"
Professor Vladimir: "Play steadily and don't worry about temporary victories or defeats. You're still young and have plenty of time."
Chris replied to each message individually. He had completed all his preparations, and with still an hour remaining before the battle, he needed to find ways to pass the time.
Thirty minutes before the match was scheduled to begin, a referee arrived to confirm which Pokemon would be participating and conduct the mandatory pre-battle inspection.
After the examination was completed, it was time for Chris to make his entrance.
Picking up his six carefully selected Poke Balls, Chris walked through the contestant corridor toward the main arena.
The loud, boisterous voices of the crowd grew even louder as the battle approached, exploding into deafening cheers the moment Chris and Marvin stepped onto the battlefield simultaneously.
The sound waves created by the crowd's enthusiasm were so intense and overwhelming that they might have been capable of shattering glass windows within a 100-meter radius.
Chris and Marvin couldn't distinguish what the spectators were shouting over the tremendous noise.
Chris assumed they were probably chanting about how handsome he looked.
Chris stood directly opposite Marvin, their gazes meeting and clashing in mid-air with almost visible intensity.
Their fighting spirits had already begun rising in anticipation of the upcoming battle.
The China Championship - this had been Chris's ultimate dream since arriving in this world. Marvin was a powerful opponent whose reputation he had known for some time. Chris had often wondered what kind of showdown would eventually take place between them.
Now, without needing to imagine any longer, he was facing Marvin directly in person.
Unlike the excitement he felt when challenging other champions during his journey, this battle aroused something deeper and more profound within him!
Marvin looked at Chris with fighting spirit burning purely in his eyes.
Chris represented a completely unknown opponent to him.
Before Chris had declared his challenge that day, Marvin hadn't even been aware of Chris's existence. His decision to accept Chris's challenge back then had been more about encouragement than expectation.
Who could have predicted that Chris, who had only recently become an Elite Four member, would actually stand before him less than a year later, challenging for his championship throne!
A complete stranger had transformed into a rival worthy of threatening his position.
This gave Marvin a fresh and exhilarating combat experience unlike any he had felt in years.
Neither trainer spoke - there was nothing that needed to be said.
The challenge for the champion's throne was inherently brutal. There would be winners and losers, and only the victor would be worthy of accepting everyone's adoration from the championship throne.
The referee slowly walked onto the battlefield. The noisy venue immediately quieted down as everyone focused their attention and concentrated completely on appreciating the upcoming battle!
"The championship challenge begins now! Elite Four Trainer Chris will challenge Champion Trainer Marvin!" The referee held his microphone and announced the official battle rules.
"The battle format will be 4-on-4 from teams of 6 Pokemon. When one trainer's fourth Pokemon loses the ability to battle, the match will conclude!" The rules were simple and straightforward. The referee also raised the signal flags in his hands.
"Now, please send out your starting Pokemon!"
Chris and Marvin reached toward their belts, their fingertips sliding across the six Poke Balls they had prepared long in advance, before finally making their selections.
The two trainers made eye contact and almost simultaneously hurled their chosen Poke Balls high into the sky above the battlefield.
With brilliant flashes of silver light, two Pokemon appeared dramatically on the field.
"ROAAAAR!!" A ferocious, manic roar echoed across the entire battlefield.
Chris's starting Pokemon was Garchomp, currently at level 88 and equipped with Landorus's Treasure as its held item.
The Land Shark Pokemon displayed its dark blue skin, streamlined body design, and terrifyingly fierce facial expression - appearing like a killing machine disguised in the form of a Pokemon. Its intimidating aura spread outward like a tidal wave, overwhelming everything in the vicinity.
Even with such incredible strength, Garchomp could only be ranked at the bottom of Chris's main team roster, with several other Pokemon competing for that same position.
Because of this ranking, today's Garchomp was absolutely filled with desire and determination to prove itself in battle!
In contrast to Chris's aggressively manic Pokemon, Marvin's choice appeared much calmer and more composed.
A Dragonite with a plump yellow body and small wings on its back stood with an almost cheerful demeanor.
Facing Garchomp's nearly overwhelming display of raw intimidation and pressure, Dragonite didn't even change its expression. Instead, it waited for the battle to begin with its hands casually placed on its hips, embodying the philosophy: "Let him be strong as he will, the gentle breeze blows over the hills; let him be fierce as he will, the bright moon shines on the river."
The emotions of the audience reached fever pitch with excitement.
Chris versus Marvin - the opening match featured Garchomp versus Dragonite, a clash between two Dragon-types! How incredibly thrilling!
The referee didn't waste time contemplating the Dragon-type matchup. His eyes swept over both opponents, and after confirming they were in proper position, he immediately brought down the signal flags.
"Let the battle begin!"
