Chapter 33 - THE TRUE BIRTH

It was beautiful, a scene my mind couldn't comprehend. The world I stared at was nothing I had seen before, a marvel to the eyes. For the first time in my life, humanity had become a synonym for beauty itself, as my eyes were glittered by the rays of sunlight, as plants and buildings coexisted, as animals walked the roads without a care next to humans. People smiled; the air felt like rejuvenation itself as it swirled through my lungs, exiting gracefully from my nostrils.

I WAS LOOKING AT A DREAM, A DREAM I WISHED WAS REALITY, AN EARTH THAT HAD BEEN TOUCHED BY THE goddess of beauty herself, as the humans I stared at were oblivious to stress, but aware of love, a total contradiction to our world, making me look like a hypocrite among them. It was a different species, but before I could be bewitched by the beauty of a world I never got to experience, a world that made my emptiness feel nonexistent for the first time in the nineteen years I have spent on earth,

BUT unfortunately it was a short-lived dream as the translucent skies, clear as the soul of Mother Mary, began to dye in red like that of the combustion of a nuclear weapon. It was a painful sight to watch; it felt like watching the transformation of a dream to a nightmare.

NO, I AM WATCHING MY DREAM TURN INTO A NIGHTMARE, as unknown entities burst through the sky, floating on nothing but air, bodies filled with stars, and faces that gave nothing but nothing. Staring into it felt like being sucked into absolute nothing, a darkness that could rival the cosmos. It felt truly like no humans, no, everyone's biggest fear, the UNKNOWN.

Slowly, the world went from a synonym of beauty to one of despair as humans turned to their true nature of war, greed, and envy, as people slaughtered others to run, as mothers abandoned their kids to save themselves, as men trampled the women to make a run from the unknown entity.

And slowly I watched the sky being filled with not only red dye, but with birds of true destruction, devils that show what humanity's hunger leads to, nothing but destruction, as fighter jets filled the skies and tanks filled the streets and warriors ran forward. And slowly, the scenery that made me dream slowly made me despair as I watched unknown humanoid figures bring destruction to my race.

I watched my race suffer, as the unknown entities had no hearts, no empathy, as they slaughtered, dissected, and stepped on us like we were mere ants. Slowly, the world before me slowly faded as fewer and fewer remained, from billions to millions to thousands, and finally the destruction stopped, and all that remained was sorrow.

And among the war were humans with stars above their heads, including Miss Ali, as she was confronted directly by the unknown, but not only her; all the other stars around the globe, as the unknown muttered the same words in unison, ''EMOTION IS HUMANITY'S GREATEST WEAKNESS AND GREATEST STRENGTH. TODAY YOU SHALL MOURN AND RELY ON THOSE WE HAVE SLAUGHTERED FOR YOUR PROGRESS, FOR WE SHALL COME AGAIN, FOR GOD HAS SENT US TO EVOLVE YOUR RACE, SO PREPARE AS THE POWER WE GRANT SHALL HAVE CONSEQUENCES FOR YOUR WORLD.''

I was actually watching the beginning of the end, how the world became split into the powerless and the powerful. I was watching why Emox existed, why we suffered, what we were being prepared for, and slowly I started to understand it all. Emox was to prepare humanity for the unknown, and emotions are unpredictable; in fact, a synonym for the unknown itself, for we exist just to counter the unknown and protect humanity.

And as the humanoid figures bestowed humanity, they levitated gracefully into the dyed red sky. I looked around at the destruction in pure pain, a dream of a planet destroyed by nothing but the unknown. I stared at a man who was in tears, and the man looked famil... WAIT, FATHER...!!

AND WITH A SUDDEN FORCE I FELT MYSELF DRAGGED BACK AND HAD MY EYES WIDENED. I WAS IN THE SAME CLASSROOM, AND SO WAS EVERYONE, SOME IN TEARS, SOME UNCONSCIOUS, SOME ANGRY, BUT NONE THE SAME BEFORE THEY LEFT, FOR WE HAVE ALL SEEN THE TRUTH OF HUMANITY, AND IT WAS TRULY SAD.

And finally, Miss Ali returned to her usual form as she smiled in tears, ''Welcome to Emox, the beginning of the end. My name is Miss Ali, the first set of mourners, and I will be the one supervising and taking care of you till you leave school. Now prepare yourself for the next class. You have a lot to learn. CLASS DISMISSED.''
