"Kadabra, Magic Coat."
Seeing the incoming Dark Void from Darkrai and that Nidoking was temporarily unable to break free from the vines binding his feet, Sato immediately threw out another PokeBall and issued a command to Kadabra as it emerged.
At the same time, a blue glow flashed in his eyes. Through telepathy, he gave an attack order to Kecleon, who had been quietly restrained by vines all this time.
The moment Kadabra appeared, it used Teleport to arrive in front of Nidoking. A powerful psychic wave erupted from its body, and a mirror shimmering with strange light instantly formed before it.
In the next second, when Darkrai's Dark Void struck the mirror, it was reflected back—at an even faster speed—toward its caster.
Facing its own rebounded attack, Darkrai showed no panic. Its body suddenly turned into a shadow, gliding rapidly across the ground toward Nidoking.
However, the moment Darkrai moved, a streak of fire shot out from the ground beside the black-robed man, targeting Celebi, who was hovering in the air controlling the plants.
Sensing the terrifying heat from the flames, Celebi—being a Grass-type Pokémon—felt a surge of fear. It immediately canceled its control over the vines and dodged.
At this critical moment, under Sato's command, Kecleon seized the opportunity. Not only did it free itself using Flamethrower, but it also launched an attack at Celebi, successfully forcing it to retreat and relieving the pressure on Nidoking.
With Celebi's control gone, the vines binding Nidoking and Sato instantly weakened. Nidoking, with its immense strength, broke free.
Then, under Sato's command, Nidoking unleashed a pillar of fire from its mouth, igniting the grassland ahead.
In an instant, a large area in front of Nidoking was set ablaze. The blazing flames cut off Darkrai's approach.
Seeing that Sato's Pokémon had not only blocked the combined assault of Darkrai and Celebi but had even gained the upper hand, the black-robed man's expression turned extremely grim beneath his mask.
"Hmph, you do have some skill. But do you think this is all I've got? Moltres, Heatran—come out."
Recalling Sato's earlier words, the killing intent in his heart intensified. No longer holding back, he threw out two more PokeBalls, releasing his final two legendary Pokémon.
"A level 66 Darkrai, level 62 Moltres, and level 63 Heatran… So he really is from that clone organization. What a luxurious lineup."
Seeing so many legendary Pokémon appear at once, Sato finally confirmed the man's identity. At the same time, he felt a sense of urgency about his current situation.
Yet instead of fear, he felt a surge of excitement.
In the next instant, as all four legendary Pokémon launched their attacks simultaneously, Sato placed a hand on Nidoking and used Teleport to leave the spot. When they reappeared, they were already across the river.
As for Kadabra, it had already teleported away earlier under Sato's command, while Kecleon once again vanished into invisibility.
"Trying to run? Not a chance! Celebi, Darkrai, Moltres—go kill them! Natu, use Teleport to take me and Heatran across!"
Thinking Sato was trying to escape, the black-robed man grew anxious and immediately ordered his Pokémon to pursue.
Celebi, Darkrai, and Moltres quickly crossed the river, while the shiny Natu on the man's shoulder used Teleport to bring both him and Heatran to the other side.
But by then, Sato had already released Crobat, Roserade, Tentacruel, and Whirlipede.
Under Roserade's Rain Dance, dark clouds gathered overhead. By the time the black-robed man arrived, a steady rain had already begun to fall.
"Trying to weaken Moltres and Heatran with rain? Don't think I'll let you succeed. Moltres, Heatran—use Sunny Day together!"
Seeing the rain, the black-robed man immediately understood Sato's intention and gave his command.
The two Fire-type legendary Pokémon erupted with blazing flames, working together to disperse the rainclouds with Sunny Day.
"Naive. Nidoking, use Earth Power on Heatran. Roserade, use Weather Ball on Moltres."
Sato naturally wouldn't allow his opponent to change the advantageous weather. He immediately ordered his two strongest Pokémon to attack.
"Don't even think about it! Darkrai, Dark Void! Celebi, Psychic!"
Similarly, the black-robed man ordered his remaining Pokémon to intercept.
But at this moment, the advantage in numbers became evident. Combined with Sato's telepathic command ability—far superior to his opponent's—Darkrai and Celebi's attacks were quickly neutralized.
Darkrai's Dark Void was instantly shut down by Crobat's Taunt, preventing its use.
Celebi's Psychic aimed at Roserade was successfully launched, but Whirlipede arrived in time and blocked it with Protect, while Tentacruel seized the opportunity to strike it with Venoshock.
The next moment, Nidoking's attack erupted.
A massive earthen beam burst beneath Heatran, launching it into the air.
With a four-times type advantage, combined with the boost from Nidoking's Sheer Force ability and its damaged Life Orb, the power of Earth Power skyrocketed. The cloned legendary Pokémon was instantly blasted into a near-fainting state.
Meanwhile, Roserade's Weather Ball, empowered by the rain, transformed into a Water-type move with greatly increased power. Though Moltres wasn't knocked out, its Sunny Day was interrupted, and it suffered heavy damage.
"How can his Nidoking be this strong? It's just an ordinary Pokémon—and its level is clearly lower than my Heatran's. Even with a four-times advantage, it shouldn't have been one-shot… How is this possible?"
Seeing Heatran nearly defeated in a single hit, the black-robed man's face filled with shock beneath his mask.
At this point, he finally realized—
He had been overconfident.
He shouldn't have wasted time talking earlier. He should have immediately sent out Darkrai and used Taunt on Sato before Kadabra could appear, sealing Sato's ability to use Teleport.
Moreover, Sato's strength far exceeded his expectations. He had assumed that possessing four legendary Pokémon guaranteed victory—but after this exchange, it was clear that Sato's team was far stronger than he had imagined.
In truth, the clone organization's intelligence network was extremely capable. The black-robed man already knew from their intel that Sato possessed a Kadabra capable of using Magic Coat.
Unfortunately—
He had grown arrogant.
And in doing so, he missed his best chance to defeat Sato.
