Under the control of Flygon, a massive wave of sand and wind violently surged toward Swampert and Sato on the ground. The overwhelming sandstorm severely disrupted their visibility.
At the same time, hidden within the storm, Flygon continued unleashing blazing pillars of fire from the sky, intending to burn Swampert and Sato alive in the whirlwind.
In an instant, the surrounding temperature rose dramatically. The scorching heat generated by Flygon's Flamethrower rapidly heated the airborne sand.
Under this onslaught of burning winds, Swampert's originally moist body began to dry out rapidly. The heat and sand absorbed and evaporated the water within him, gradually pushing him into a dehydrated state.
Facing an airborne opponent concealed by the storm, Swampert could still track Flygon's movements using the radar-like gills on his face. But Flygon was too agile in the sandstorm, and the swirling sands made it difficult for Swampert to land a successful long-range hit.
Moreover, this Flygon's combat instincts were razor sharp. It had seemingly identified Swampert's potential for devastating power and fully exploited its aerial advantage and the environment to wage a hit-and-run battle, constantly avoiding close combat. This rendered Swampert's raw strength practically useless.
To make matters worse, Flygon repeatedly used Dragon Dance to boost its stats, lying in wait for the perfect moment—when Swampert was weakened by dehydration—to deliver a killing blow.
Soon, Swampert was panting heavily. His skin had become visibly dry. It was clear he was dehydrated, and his once overwhelming strength had already diminished significantly.
Fortunately, the mutated Supreme Blue Water Stone embedded in his body continued to provide him with pure Water-type energy, preventing him from becoming completely incapacitated.
'Damn it... I have to find a way to bring that thing down, or Swampert's going to get dragged to death,' Sato thought anxiously. He was being protected from the high temperatures by Arcanine's temperature control, but even so, he could clearly see the situation was dire.
"Wait... that move! Maybe he can help Swampert turn this around."
Suddenly, a memory fragment flashed through Sato's rapidly turning mind, reminding him of a little-used Psychic-type Pokémon in his team—one that possessed a move capable of breaking through this dilemma.
The next moment, Sato quickly pulled out a black PokéBall and released a spoon-wielding Psychic-type Pokémon.
Yes—under these desperate circumstances, Sato had remembered Alakazam, the very Pokémon he had kept under tight supervision.
This proud and rebellious Psychic-type had never truly submitted to Sato. Even after Sato advanced to a Beginner psychic, Alakazam showed no signs of loyalty. As such, Sato had never factored him into battle strategy before.
"Help me this once, Alakazam—use Gravity!"
If the situation weren't so urgent, Sato would never entrust such a vital move to a disobedient Pokémon. But now, he had no choice. With a tense expression, he shouted the command at the newly released Alakazam.
The moment Alakazam emerged from the PokéBall, it teleported into midair. Using Telekinesis, it suspended itself above the ground, while conjuring a powerful psychic barrier to completely block out the incoming sandstorm.
As a battle-hardened Pokémon, Alakazam instinctively scanned the environment with psychic sensing. It quickly grasped the gravity of the situation.
Yet, when Alakazam heard Sato's urgent command, a hint of hesitation flashed across its face.
Though it couldn't understand how Sato knew it could use the high-level move Gravity, just as Sato predicted, Alakazam harbored deep resentment—toward both Sato and the Swampert that had once seriously injured it.
Thus, the idea of standing by and watching Swampert be worn down and killed by Flygon was... not entirely unwelcome.
But when Alakazam met Sato's killing-intent-filled eyes, its entire body trembled. It suddenly remembered that its life was still in Sato's hands. If it disobeyed now, it might never see the day Sato fulfilled his promise to set it free.
Besides, Sato still had a Natu who could Teleport. Even without Alakazam, he had options.
Alakazam, realizing he was replaceable, finally gave in. With cold rationality, he obeyed the command. A powerful psychic aura erupted from his body, and both of his spoons began to glow intensely.
The next instant, the spoons bent sharply—and within a hundred-meter radius, gravity intensified by several times.
At that moment, Flygon, who had thought victory was assured, suddenly panicked. The sudden spike in gravity completely threw off its rhythm. Unable to adapt, it dropped from the sky like a bird with broken wings.
Thud!
Flygon crashed heavily into the ground.
"Well done! Swampert—take the opportunity! Finish it with Ice Punch!"
Seeing Flygon grounded by Alakazam's Gravity, Sato's heart surged with excitement. He immediately commanded Swampert to strike.
"ROAARR!!"
Swampert, long infuriated by Flygon's kiting tactics, roared furiously. With a stomp, he launched forward like a blue blur, surging toward the fallen Flygon.
Noticing the terrifying Ice-type energy gathering in Swampert's fist, Flygon instantly sensed a mortal threat. Without hesitation, it buried itself into the ground, trying to evade the incoming strike.
"Foolish! Finish it—Raging Earth!"
Sato scoffed at Flygon's desperate escape and ordered Swampert to use Raging Earth—a powerful Ground-type combo move.
Following Sato's command, the enraged Swampert slammed the earth with overwhelming force. Under his master-level control of Ground-type energy, the terrain within a hundred-meter radius instantly erupted.
A tremendous shockwave burst outward from Swampert, shaking the ground violently. Beams of earth-colored energy shot from the cracked terrain.
Flygon, who had foolishly dug into the ground, took double damage from the combo attack of Earthquake and Earth Power. Covered in injuries, it was blasted out of the fissures like garbage and slammed once more into the still-trembling ground.
But even now, Flygon hadn't completely lost its ability to fight. Gritting its teeth, it staggered to its feet—then turned in panic and tried to flee.
Unfortunately, now grounded, Flygon was like a cub before a lion. It barely made it a few steps before Swampert caught up.
In the next instant, a sandbag-sized fist smashed into its head, then pinned it down and began to drag it mercilessly across the earth.
