The burst of white light came and went in an instant. As Sato reopened his eyes, a small and delicate Pichu had already appeared before him.

The newly hatched Pichu didn't look much different from an ordinary one, except for the fact that its ears were double-tipped and a tuft of fur streaked with yellow and black grew vertically from its forehead.

At this moment, the newborn Pichu was still bathing in the thunderstorm. Perhaps due to its Lightning Rod Ability, it had an extremely high resistance to electricity—or maybe it simply possessed a massive capacity for storing Electric-type energy.

It seemed completely unfazed as it continued to absorb the electric energy from the thunderbolts without so much as a scratch.

Gradually, Pichu's fur began to shimmer with light. Every strand seemed saturated with powerful Electric-type energy, and crackling arcs of electricity started to dance like serpents around its tiny frame.

Simultaneously, a lightning-bolt-shaped mark appeared in the center of its forehead, half-covered by that singular tuft of fur.

Still, even a Pichu born with such incredible talent had its limits—its body could not possibly absorb all of the electricity from the thunderstorm.

After remaining airborne for just over ten seconds, Pichu eventually descended to the ground and, using its Lightning Rod Ability, began to redirect the excess energy into the earth.

In an instant, the terrain within a ten-meter radius around Pichu was coated in a faint golden glow.

At the same time, the magnetic field in the area shifted, and arcs of electricity surged rapidly across the ground.

"Pichuuu~!"

Having smoothly redirected the leftover electrical energy into the earth, Pichu raised its little head and looked up at Sato, who was staring back at him. Then, the small Pokémon broke into a wide smile and called out joyfully.

Moments later, the electricity still flowing through its fur sparked once more, and Pichu casually levitated into the air using the magnetically charged terrain around it—still infused with immense Electric-type energy. With ease, it floated toward Sato.

"Wait… is that Magnet Rise? And it already knows Thunderbolt and Electric Terrain? For a newborn to grasp such powerful moves… this kind of talent is outrageous."

Watching the levitating Pichu float toward him, Sato's face filled with awe. A flicker of faint blue light briefly passed through his eyes. After scanning Pichu's data, his heart trembled with realization.

(Note: Magnet Rise – Electric-type status move. Effect: Floats in the air using electromagnetism, allowing flight for 5 turns.)

But then Sato recalled the miraculous moment when Pichu had been born, and he no longer found this surprising.

He already understood—this Pichu, which he had won from someone else in a wager, must come from quite the extraordinary lineage.

A few seconds later, the petite Pichu floated up to Sato—who was currently shielded by a Ditto-transformed umbrella—and gently landed on his right shoulder.

Then, Pichu began joyfully hopping around on Sato's shoulder, rubbing his tiny cheeks against Sato's face affectionately. It was clear that he felt very close to the Trainer who had taken such good care of him.

"So we finally meet, little guy. But this isn't the best place for a chat. Let's head back to the tent and get out of the rain."

Seeing how energetic Pichu was—and how he clearly remembered his Trainer—Sato was naturally overjoyed. He quickly pulled out a bottle of Moomoo Milk he had freshly obtained from a Miltank earlier and offered it to Pichu.

"Pichuuu~!"

Clearly hungry after just being born, Pichu's eyes lit up as he sniffed the bottle. Realizing it was something good, he let out a delighted cry.

He then grabbed the bottle—which was nearly his size—and intelligently bit down on the rubber tip to start drinking milk with contentment.

Sato nodded in approval. Just as he turned to head back toward the tent, a massive lightning bolt suddenly struck somewhere deep within the forest.

As the flash faded, a deafening peal of thunder followed.

"Pichuuuu~!"

Amid the rumble of thunder, Pichu floated up from Sato's shoulder, still hugging the milk bottle. He faced the dark clouds above and cried out, seemingly expressing gratitude.

And oddly enough, the storm clouds seemed to respond. Lightning bolts began raining down in rapid succession from the sky.

In an instant, the forest below was caught in the chaos. Several tall trees were struck and split apart by the barrage of thunderbolts.

Seeing Pichu behave this way, Sato immediately turned his attention to the dark clouds above the forest. Using the continuous lightning strikes for illumination, he faintly made out the silhouette of a giant bird amidst the clouds.

"That figure in the thunderclouds—it must be Zapdos. No wonder this storm appeared out of nowhere. He's the cause."

The moment he spotted the bird-like shape hidden within the clouds, Sato quickly deduced the truth behind the sudden thunderstorm and identified the source behind it all.

"Was Pichu just thanking Zapdos? Could it be that Zapdos just happened to be passing by, noticed the birth of an exceptionally gifted Electric-type Pokémon, and sent that lightning bolt as a kind of blessing?"

As Sato recalled the earlier lightning strike that had seemed to baptize the newborn Pichu, he found himself lost in thought.

In truth, Sato was overthinking it. He wasn't some chosen child of fate—legendary Pokémon wouldn't just grant him gifts.

Zapdos had simply passed through this area and, by chance, brought a thunderstorm to a region that hadn't seen rain in a while.

As for Pichu, he had intercepted one of Zapdos' lightning bolts using his own ability to draw in electricity. Thanks to this, he had naturally gained some benefit.

By absorbing the pure Electric-type energy from Zapdos, Pichu had successfully awakened a unique trait—storing electrical energy in his fur. Now, his shimmering coat practically radiated raw electricity in the dark of night.

The lightning-shaped mark on Pichu's forehead signified that his fur was now saturated with potent Electric-type energy.

With this charged coat, Pichu could easily unleash powerful moves like Thunderbolt, and create special electromagnetic fields around him to support Magnet Rise—allowing him to float freely in the air.

Clearly, Zapdos had noticed the little Pokémon. After hearing Pichu's grateful cries, he casually sent down a dozen more bolts in acknowledgment before completely ignoring him again.

And just like that, the fearsome thunderstorm—so terrifying to the other creatures of the forest—began to dissipate once Zapdos stopped responding.

In a matter of moments, the rumbling of thunder across the forest faded into the distance.

Roughly ten minutes later, the storm clouds above the forest had fully cleared, and Zapdos—accompanied by a trailing thundercloud still raining lightning—was flying off in the direction of Viridian City.
