Chapter 431 - Chapter 432: Taking Action

A minute or so later, the nearly 100-member Konoha support team arrived.

With their arrival on the battlefield, the entire situation changed drastically.

Centered around Uchiha Shisui and several Konoha Jonin, several small skirmishes broke out, and the ninjas from both sides were entangled, with no clear advantage emerging.

But to Seiki, this was unacceptable.

The reason was simple: Daize Yuki had tasked him with launching an attack on the southern gate of the Blackstone Base, to support the assault on the eastern front.

If these Konoha ninjas continued to hold them back here, the mission would undoubtedly fail.

Thus, they could not afford to be stuck in a stalemate here.

However, leading the remaining Mist ninjas to bypass the battlefield and strike the southern gate of Blackstone Base was also impossible.

Leaving aside the fact that such a small force wouldn't have much impact, just dealing with Seiki himself would make it impossible for them to leave easily.

"So, the only option is to win this battle first," Seiki thought.

With this in mind, Seiki no longer ordered the nearby Mist ninjas to keep an eye on Seiki, but instead led all his forces into the fray.

Upon seeing this, Seiki hesitated for a moment but chose not to intervene.

As a result, Konoha's side immediately felt more pressure.

However, with Uchiha Shisui on the front lines as a key player, there was no immediate risk of defeat.

Thus, Seiki relaxed and continued to circle in the sky, waiting for the right opportunity.

Time ticked by.

As the battle raged on, the situation grew more intense, with many smaller skirmishes escalating to critical levels.

Both sides, whether Konoha or the Mist, were becoming increasingly occupied with the chaos, leaving little room to notice Seiki's movements.

Especially since Seiki had refrained from intervening as much, many of the Mist ninjas speculated that perhaps his injuries from earlier battles had been too severe, preventing him from fully participating in the fight.

Although he appeared fine on the surface, they had used poisoned weapons against him earlier.

And often, the effects of poison are not immediately apparent.

This theory caused some Mist ninjas to breathe a quiet sigh of relief.

While Seiki might still be able to perceive certain things, for the sake of morale and the ongoing chaos, he couldn't afford to communicate what he might have seen.

So, they were left to their own wild guesses.

And all of this gave Seiki a perfect opportunity.

At one point, as Seiki led a group of his subordinates into a clash with a dozen Konoha ninjas, Seiki suddenly dove downward.

In the first instance, the Mist ninjas were caught off guard, allowing him to close the distance to within thirty meters.

By the time they realized what was happening, Seiki had already moved to within twenty meters.

This was enough range for Seiki to launch a wide-area attack.

Without hesitation, he quickly completed the hand seals, took a deep breath, and unleashed his jutsu — Wind Release: Great Breakthrough!

In an instant, a wild gust of wind erupted!

A powerful hurricane blasted from his mouth, sweeping toward the Mist ninjas like a natural disaster.

Caught off guard by the sudden assault, they were unable to defend themselves and could only take the brunt of the attack.

But Seiki's Wind Release jutsu, powered by a large amount of chakra, was not something they could easily endure.

Just as before, they were blown away, tumbling with no room to resist.

Not only them, but even the Konoha ninjas who had been tangled with them were blown away as well.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Seiki flapped his wings and descended again, reaching for Seiki.

However, a sense of unease kept Seiki alert, and his own Jonin-level strength allowed him to narrowly dodge the attack.

Seiki's strike missed, and he was momentarily disappointed.

But he quickly adjusted his mindset. Capturing Seiki alive had always been an ideal outcome that could only happen under the best conditions.

It was entirely normal for it to fail at this stage.

Fortunately, he still had a backup plan.

With that in mind, Seiki retracted the chakra wings on his back, dismissed his Wind Release: Wings of the Wind, and drew his long sword to strike.

Seeing Seiki charge directly at him, Seiki immediately raised his kunai, preparing for battle.

Cling! Cling!

The sharp sound of metal clashing rang out in the air, like the sound of rain hitting the ground.

In an instant, the two were engaged in a fierce confrontation.

Seiki fully activated the power of his three-tomoe Sharingan, analyzing Seiki's movements and continuously launching attacks.

Seiki, disregarding chakra consumption, kept his Byakugan active, using its ability to see through and monitor Seiki's chakra flow, predicting his strikes.

For a moment, they were evenly matched, with Seiki's relentless assault being met by Seiki's defenses.

Because the battle between the two was so intense, the nearby mid- and low-ranking ninjas, whether Mist or Konoha, couldn't intervene and were too intimidated to do so.

A few of the upper-level ninjas on both sides tried to step in to help their respective leaders win, but were blocked by the opposing side's Jonin.

Thus, Seiki and Seiki's battle turned into a one-on-one confrontation.

This, of course, was exactly what Seiki wanted.

Using his peripheral vision, he scanned the surroundings and subtly guided Seiki to the outer edge of the battlefield.

For Seiki, maintaining the initiative was not difficult at all.

Whether Seiki liked it or not, the two of them inevitably moved toward the edge of the battlefield.

During this process, a few Mist Chunin tried to come to Seiki's aid, but they were ruthlessly dealt with by Seiki.

Finally, after several minutes, Seiki and Seiki reached the outer edge of the battlefield.

By this point, Seiki had begun to sense something was off, but he didn't pay much attention to it. After all, he had already scanned the surroundings with his Byakugan, and there was no ambush.

Based on Seiki's earlier display of combat power, Seiki believed that even if he couldn't win, he could at least hold Seiki off for a while without exhausting his chakra completely.

Without Seiki as a threat, he was confident that his subordinates would eventually secure victory.

At that point, they could come back to help him and get him out of danger.

It was a perfect plan.

But for that plan to succeed, he needed to be able to hold off Seiki.

Suddenly, an overwhelming sense of crisis filled his heart.

Seiki's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly focused all his attention on Seiki.

However, the anticipated attack did not come. Instead, he saw a pair of eyes in Seiki's gaze—eyes unlike any other.

They resembled a black sun, glaring ominously in his crimson pupils.

Staring at them filled Seiki with an unexplainable dread.
