The fire dragon skimmed past the ice dragon's body, barely grazing Snowwind.
Qingming didn't seem disappointed; he'd only cast the jutsu to force the ice dragon to shift direction, keeping it away from the passenger ship below.
With a quick decision, Qingming leapt from the ship and, in a few swift moves, positioned himself in an open area of the sea. Here, there were no ships or other shinobi—neither from Mist nor Leaf. It was the perfect place for a one-on-one battle.
Seeing this, Snowwind immediately understood and, without hesitation, directed his ice dragon to attack.
As the massive creature charged toward him, Qingming dodged to the side. The dragon's claws struck the water, creating a surge of waves that threw off Qingming's balance.
Noticing this, Snowwind's eyes lit up. He relentlessly commanded the ice dragon to press forward, forcing Qingming to dodge repeatedly.
Finally, after forcing Qingming from his spot yet again, Snowwind changed his hand seals. The ice dragon opened its mouth wide and unleashed a blast of cold, even more intense than the one that had faced off against Qingming's fire dragon earlier.
This freezing breath surged toward Qingming like a mythical dragon's breath, threatening to trap him in ice. Qingming knew that, if he were hit, he would be immobilized and might even face life-threatening consequences.
But rather than fear, a gleam of opportunity flashed in his eyes.
As he'd observed earlier, the ice dragon's body locked up momentarily while it spewed its icy breath. This was Qingming's chance. He'd deduced this weakness during Snowwind's previous counterattack against his Fire Dragon Jutsu.
And now, the ice dragon was indeed locked in place.
Seizing the opportunity, Qingming drew his long sword with a sharp, swift motion. His "Instant Blade Technique" propelled him forward, just out of the cold's range.
Quickly, Qingming formed hand seals and cast Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!
A massive ball of fire erupted from his mouth, hurtling straight for the ice dragon.
Snowwind sensed the intensity of the approaching fireball, its searing heat becoming palpable even from afar. He tried to direct the ice dragon to evade, but with Qingming's precision timing, the icy behemoth couldn't avoid it.
With no other choice, Snowwind abandoned the ice dragon, using its massive body as a shield against the fireball's impact.
The fireball exploded against the dragon's head with a deafening blast, melting its icy body into a cloud of steam.
"Wait," Qingming thought, suddenly noticing something amiss. The mist was far too thick to be mere vapor. "Hidden Mist Jutsu?"
He quickly guessed that Snowwind had cast the jutsu. Just as Qingming prepared to clear the fog with a Wind Style technique, he felt a chilling sensation beneath his feet.
Glancing down, he saw ice crystals forming rapidly across the water's surface.
In the next instant, a spike of ice erupted from the ground, aiming straight for his abdomen. Qingming reacted quickly, sidestepping the threat.
But this was only the beginning.
As soon as he touched down, another ice spike shot up at his feet, then another, and another, each one forcing him to retreat further. Within moments, the area was covered in ice spikes, driving him back step by step.
As he reached the edge of the icy surface, an ice wall suddenly rose, blocking his path. Qingming turned to find identical walls forming in the other three directions. Rising to an equal height, they arched inward, finally converging at the top to form an ice prison around him.
"Ice Release: Ice Prison Jutsu!"
Snowwind's voice came from outside the icy barrier as he pressed his hands against it, murmuring under his breath. He infused the ice walls with vast amounts of chakra, increasing their thickness and strength while dropping the internal temperature.
Inside, Qingming swiftly formed the seals for Fire Style: Dragon Fire Technique.
A column of flames surged from his mouth, striking the ice wall with a resounding boom.
Fragments of ice scattered everywhere, but while the wall melted slightly, it quickly reformed with fresh layers of thick ice. Refusing to give up, Qingming tried again, this time casting Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!
The fireball he conjured was even larger than the one he'd used against the ice dragon, creating a large hole in the wall. But again, the hole filled quickly with new ice.
Undeterred, Qingming attempted a series of different jutsu, including Wind Style: Blade of Wind and Water Style: Water Dragon Bullet. Yet, none could break through the ice prison.
Outside, Snowwind watched this with increasing confidence. "Give it up!" he called out, a smug smile on his face. "No one has ever escaped my Ice Release: Ice Prison Jutsu!"
He laughed, basking in his apparent victory and, it seemed, trying to rid himself of the lingering fear that had taken root before they'd engaged in battle.
"Ha!" He sneered. "Too bad for you, kid. You just got unlucky facing me. Soon, you'll be frozen into an ice statue."
"Click, click," he tutted, eyes gleaming as he gazed at Qingming. "Those Sharingan of yours—they'll make a fine trophy. Your eyes are mine!"
"Oh? Is that so?"
Hearing Snowwind's taunts, Qingming finally stopped testing his attacks. He approached one of the ice walls, stretching out his hand. In his palm, a pale blue, high-density chakra sphere rapidly took shape.
Holding the Rasengan, Qingming taunted, "Are you really sure this ice wall can stop me?"
Snowwind's smirk faded as he continued to infuse the ice wall with chakra, heightening its density while eyeing the Rasengan in Qingming's hand.
Soon, he convinced himself that the chakra ball posed no real threat to his ice prison.
"Trying to trick me, huh?" Snowwind was about to respond with another taunt when a piercing sound filled the air.
The Rasengan in Qingming's hand suddenly grew to several times its original size, transforming into a massive chakra shuriken made entirely of Wind Release chakra, spinning at a tremendous speed.
The sound of air ripping apart came from the giant wind-chakra shuriken in his hand.
"That's…"
Snowwind felt the terrifying power emanating from the shuriken, his expression turning grave.
The intelligence reports had indeed mentioned Qingming's mastery of a devastating Wind Release jutsu, one that the shinobi world had never seen before. Snowwind had dismissed the report as exaggerated, but now he saw that he had been mistaken.
Without a moment's hesitation, he poured even more chakra into the ice walls, desperately trying to strengthen them further.
But when Qingming thrust the Wind Release: Rasenshuriken against the ice wall, it crumbled like dust, breaking apart and falling to the ground in powdered fragments.
The ice wall was defenseless against the Rasenshuriken's attack at the cellular level, a microscopic barrage of chakra needles shredding it to pieces.
With minimal effort, Qingming strode out of the ice prison.
