Luis clasped his hands. "Captain, you should relax. Stress wrinkles are tragic."
"Say one more word about my face," Jax said, "and I will turn this car around."
Luis gasped again. "Threats already? Daniel, hold me."
Daniel did not hold him.
Instead, he wrapped an arm around Luis's waist and pulled him back into place with a firm tug. "Sit. Down."
Luis blinked.
Then smiled slowly. "Oh. That tone."
Daniel's ears turned faintly red. "Do not start."
"I wasn't starting anything," Luis said innocently. "But now that you mention it—"
"Luis."
"Yes, my love?"
Xavier muttered, "I regret everything."
Alvin leaned closer to Xavier, voice low and amused. "You agreed to this."
Xavier sighed. "I agreed to a reconnaissance mission. Not… whatever this is."
"This," Luis said proudly, "is morale support."
Jax glanced in the rearview mirror and caught Alvin watching the scenery with that thoughtful, distant look—the one that meant his mind was already several steps ahead of reality.
