"Hey," Micah breathed as soon as Adele stepped out of the ward. She looked as pale as hell, enough that he reached out quickly and steadied her when she stumbled.
"What's going on? Are you alright?" There was nothing but worry in his eyes.
Adele nodded, then let out a deep breath. "She simply took a lot from me."
Micah didn't need further explanation. Adele's power was more on the giving side. In the past, he hadn't thought much about it—he never gave much thought to others—but now they were mated, her wellbeing was his utmost concern, and it pissed him off how she had to suffer just to make someone else feel better.
So he guided her to the bench right outside the room and helped her sit. Micah sat beside her, his discerning eyes studying her. "How is she?"
