Chapter 54: Fire Release Chakra Mode
The experiment was over.
Gōenji looked down at his clothes and realized there was a problem.
"Yeah... There's still a lot of room for improvement."
He threw away what remained of his clothes and was briefly left speechless. Even his underwear had almost caught fire.
Fortunately, his lower body had escaped serious injury.
He then looked toward Uchiha Itachi and noticed Mikoto's gaze. His face reddened slightly.
Gōenji took a scroll from his ninja tool pouch and performed a Summoning Technique. A complete set of clothes appeared from the scroll, and he quickly put them on.
"Aunt Mikoto, long time no see."
He walked over to them.
"Teacher Gōenji, you're amazing!"
Itachi's eyes were bright with admiration.
Mikoto also praised him.
"Were you practicing a new ninjutsu? It looks incredibly powerful!"
"Haha, it's a newly developed technique, but I still can't control it very well. There's plenty of room for improvement, and there are still many problems with it."
Gōenji scratched his head.
This experiment had indeed revealed quite a few discrepancies between his previous theoretical calculations and the actual results.
There were still many things that needed to be adjusted.
For example, the hand-seal sequence was too long. The timing for concentrating chakra needed to be optimized. The Nature Transformation had to be kept within the limits of his ability to control the Shape Transformation, and so on.
These were all problems that inevitably appeared during the development of a new ninjutsu.
And right now, the Blade of the Rising Sun was still only a half-finished product in its first stage.
Only when he could control it completely could he claim that the first stage was truly complete.
"You're too modest," Mikoto said. "Fugaku hasn't developed any remarkable ninjutsu himself. He simply learned the techniques passed down by our predecessors. What you've accomplished is genuinely impressive."
As a former jōnin, Mikoto still possessed an extremely sharp eye.
Even without being on the receiving end of the attack, she could tell how terrifying its power was.
It couldn't even be compared with ordinary techniques such as the Great Fireball Technique.
Being able to develop something like this was an extraordinary accomplishment.
Even her husband, the Uchiha clan head, had only mastered the techniques inherited by the clan. He hadn't created a unique ninjutsu of his own.
Gōenji really was a genius.
And the fact that he was willing to spend his free time teaching Itachi made Mikoto even more satisfied.
"That's right," Itachi said. "I've read about it in books. Shinobi who can develop ninjutsu are basically the elites of their villages. They're much stronger than ordinary shinobi."
"Aunt Mikoto is too kind. This technique has only just begun. It still needs some time before it's finished."
The three of them chatted for a while before Mikoto took Itachi home for dinner.
Gōenji remained behind.
He looked around the training ground and realized just how thoroughly he had wrecked it.
The entire training ground had been transformed into a glass-like substance, with fragments of glass scattered across the ground.
An awkward expression appeared on his face.
He had really made a mess.
If I want to complete the Blade of the Rising Sun, I need to improve my control over Fire Release.
My talent is already excellent, but concentrating such extreme temperatures onto the tip and edge of a sword requires even greater chakra control than I currently possess.
Gōenji gathered chakra in both hands.
He continuously shaped it according to various mathematical formulas, calculating and adjusting the parameters directly through chakra.
He had long since developed the ability to do this.
But it still wasn't enough.
He needed even finer chakra control.
I've reached a bottleneck.
My chakra control should already be close to Tsunade's level. If I want to go any further, ordinary training simply won't be enough.
The realization gave him a headache.
He had previously believed that his chakra control was already exceptionally good—better than that of most medical ninja.
Combined with his application of the chakra-lever principle, he had thought it would be sufficient.
Now, however, reality had proven otherwise.
He needed to improve further.
But how?
That was the real problem.
High-temperature compression causes severe energy loss.
I need to incorporate the energy-loss rate into the optimization of chakra-distribution efficiency and the shape-control coefficient.
By optimizing the chakra-flow pathways and adjusting the stability of shape formation, I can reduce energy loss while improving the precision of the technique. That would allow me to concentrate the heat more effectively while maintaining better control...
His thoughts continued.
Another possibility is to adjust the formation pathway of the ninjutsu so that it automatically stabilizes itself while I'm forming the hand seals, eliminating the need for constant high-level control.
It's like programming. There's a huge difference between manually entering countless zeros and ones and writing a program that handles the process automatically.
That's one direction.
The other is to strengthen my control over Fire Release Nature Transformation.
That can't be achieved through ordinary training alone. I'll need to develop a supporting ninjutsu.
As he walked home, Gōenji continued thinking about the future development of the Blade of the Rising Sun.
Over the past month or so, he had spent a great deal of time thinking and studying various fields of knowledge.
Now, he was finally putting that knowledge to practical use.
In a short period of time, he had already come up with several possible directions.
Two of them were particularly easy to implement.
The first was relatively straightforward.
It was essentially like creating a mold for a ninjutsu.
Once the mold existed, he only needed to fill it with chakra, and the technique would take shape.
It wouldn't directly increase his control ability.
Instead, it would increase the technique's reproducibility and stability.
Just like every other completed ninjutsu.
The second idea was connected to something he had considered not long after reincarnating.
Fire Release Chakra Mode.
Gōenji immediately thought of Lightning Release Chakra Mode, Naruto's Sage Mode, and the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode.
Each of them could greatly enhance multiple aspects of the user's abilities.
Lightning Release Chakra Mode activated the body, increasing physical strength, speed, neural response, and chakra output.
Naruto's Sage Mode allowed him to utilize natural energy, greatly enhancing his perception and physical attacks.
So why couldn't he develop a Fire Release Chakra Mode of his own?
Its primary purpose would be to increase the power and control of Fire Release.
While in that state, he would be able to manipulate his chakra far more efficiently.
Especially when using Fire Release.
As for how to achieve it...
Gōenji left the Uchiha clan compound and headed toward the Konoha Library.
There was a mathematical formula he needed to verify.
And that formula couldn't be found in the Uchiha clan's library.
...
Training Ground
"Whoa! This ninjutsu is terrifying! I can't believe it turned the entire training ground into this!"
Not long after Gōenji left, several Uchiha shinobi arrived at the training ground.
Looking at the glass-like terrain, all of them were stunned.
"Was this some kind of forbidden jutsu training?"
"No way. Who would practice a forbidden technique in an ordinary training ground?"
"Who knows?"
One of them crouched down and picked up a handful of dust.
"Judging from the environment, this was caused by extremely high-temperature combustion. Even the soil has become glass-like, which means the temperature must have been incredibly high. Ordinary Fire Release techniques couldn't possibly achieve this."
Another Uchiha stared at the ruined training ground.
"If I had this kind of power and activated my Sharingan, maybe I could do it too."
"Forget about that. Let's restore the training ground first. That's our job."
"Seriously, if the clan head would just send us to the battlefield more often, I'd definitely be able to make a name for myself like Shisui of the Body Flicker and Gōenji."
"Who told us to be the shame of the Uchiha clan?"
"We can't even awaken the Sharingan. Our talent is too poor. All we can do is handle odd jobs."
When the young Uchiha mentioned the Sharingan, his eyes were filled with longing.
