The world didn't end with a bang but with a whimper.
A soft sigh of disbelief as the skies turned an ominous shade of gray, and the ground trembled beneath our feet.
While panic and screams enveloped the world, there I was, oblivious to the chaos unfurling beyond the sterile walls of the operating room.

Lying under the dizzying bright lights, surrounded by the hum of machines and the faint scent of antiseptic, I was entranced by my own reflection from the silvery coat I randomly spotted upon tilting my head sideways.
'Is that me… over there?'
I couldn't really say.
It was a bit hazy, and my eyes felt so tired but something rather strange and pronounced caught my waning sight.
So curious, I squinted.
'Why… Do I have those peculiar lines drawn on my face?'
Though I can't really tell much from the blur, against a creamy complexion, the black taints that marred my skin were rather plain in sight.
