I looked at Elspeth as she yawned slightly, adjusting her head on my chest as she continued to sleep. A smile spread across my face as I held her waist, steadying her frame on the sofa inside the jet. I gently adjusted the blanket around her, careful not to wake her.
We had busied ourselves all week preparing for this trip, plotting and planning every detail. Elspeth had disguised our journey as an important work outreach, claiming she was helping Blake in the next town, and I had paid Blake to go along with it.
We adopted false identities: I was Jamin Welsh, a regular social worker, and Elspeth was Erin Kale, my wife. She had dyed her hair a dark burgundy, styled into a layered butterfly cut that made her look absolutely stunning, as always.
