I couldn't shake the feeling that the universe itself was getting back at me. I lay on the floor in defeat, shutting my eyes tightly as her maniacal laughter erupted, each giggle punctuated by enthusiastic claps.
I sighed, remaining there, struggling not to laugh at my own predicament. Her laughter was pleasant—loud and high-pitched, like a Barbie doll with a voice box. Maybe it was because I rarely heard her laugh.
Suddenly, her giggles grew louder, and I felt a light tap on my thigh. "Oh come on! Don't be such a drama queen!" she teased, still laughing. I remained frozen, not even blinking.
"Castiel." She called my name through her snorts, slipping an idea into my mind. "Castiel." She repeated, her tone shifting to something more serious as she slid closer, leaning in to check if I was actually breathing.
