"Tenth-grade, Divine-grade bloodline!!"
The entire Lei Clan stood in stunned silence, their eyes fixed on the black-silver lightning pillar shooting skyward. As bearers of the Lei Clan's bloodline, they felt the oppressive pressure more intensely than others.
Many members of the Lei Clan couldn't withstand the immense pressure and fell to their knees with a thud, their faces filled with fervent admiration.
Xiao Yixian and Qing Lin watched in shock as most of the Lei Clan knelt down, including Mu Mang and others. Even though some elders and experts like Mang Tianchi managed to stay standing, they bowed slightly, unable to look directly at the black-silver lightning figure in the center.
"What an extraordinary boy… a divine-grade bloodline at last. My Lei Clan finally has a divine-grade bloodline," Mang Tianchi sighed, his voice betraying his overwhelming joy.
As a Lei Clan member, he fully understood the importance of a divine-grade bloodline to an ancient clan. Among the seven ancient clans, only the Gu and Hun Clans were rumored to have such bloodlines. Yet now, the Lei Clan had its own.
"Heh, I knew I wasn't wrong about this boy. Luckily, I acted in time and took him as my son-in-law. Otherwise, I'd have missed out on a genius."
High atop a towering ancient tree, Lei Ying looked at the black-silver figure with laughter, turning to the two stunned people beside him.
"With this son-in-law, in a hundred years, even the Gu and Hun Clans won't dare to look down on the Lei Clan."
"Divine…"
Lei Dong and Lei Fei'er exchanged glances, their faces filled with awe.
Although they had speculated earlier, seeing it confirmed still left them in disbelief. A divine-grade bloodline hadn't appeared in the Lei Clan for thousands of years.
"He really has a divine-grade bloodline…"
Lei Fei'er's beautiful eyes locked onto the tall figure. With the divine-grade bloodline's aura surrounding him, Mo Yu seemed like an untouchable celestial being.
Even with her pride, Lei Fei'er couldn't deny that Mo Yu was worthy of being her husband.
Thinking of this, a faint blush crept across her flawless cheeks.
The black-silver lightning pillar pierced the heavens before slowly dissipating, transforming into a wisp of silver light that returned to Mo Yu's body.
As he opened his silver eyes, the surrounding silence made him frown slightly. His gaze fell on the three Lei Clan elders, who were staring at him with fanaticism.
"It's the power of the Heavenly Thunder Body…" Mo Yu muttered, understanding what had happened.
He knew his bloodline couldn't possibly contain the divine-grade bloodline of the ancient Dou Di. The black-silver lightning pillar wasn't from his bloodline but a byproduct of the Heavenly Thunder Body.
A wry smile tugged at his lips, but he chose not to correct their misunderstanding. In truth, the Heavenly Thunder Body was as powerful, if not stronger, than a divine-grade bloodline. This wasn't deceit—it was simply another way of viewing the truth.
"It's truly a divine-grade bloodline…"
The three Lei Clan elders murmured excitedly before regaining composure. They exchanged solemn looks, then reached out their hands respectfully.
With a firm grip in the void, an ancient seal imbued with lightning and engraved with a true dragon appeared in one elder's hand.
As the seal emerged, reverence washed over every Lei Clan member present.
Mang Tianchi exhaled deeply, murmuring, "The Lightning Heavenly Dragon Seal… unused for thousands of years. At last, it will be wielded again."
Qing Lin and Xiao Yixian exchanged glances, sensing that this object was anything but ordinary.
On the test platform, the elder holding the seal—Lei Xuan—reverently presented it, his hands trembling slightly. His heart surged with excitement as he prepared to use the ancient Lightning Heavenly Dragon Seal for the first time in millennia.
"Black Thunder Captain, I am Elder Lei Xuan. Should you face any difficulties within the clan, you may come to me. Now, let us begin engraving the clan mark. Are you ready?"
Lei Xuan's eyes burned with fervor as he addressed Mo Yu.
"I'm ready."
Although Mo Yu wasn't sure if the Shen-Grade clan mark would benefit him, he saw no harm in having one. Thus, he nodded calmly.
Lei Xuan's expression grew solemn. With a burst of overwhelming energy, his aura filled the space. Holding the Lightning Heavenly Dragon Seal tightly, he moved his arm in a sweeping motion.
Intricate trajectories formed in the air, and as the seal vibrated, a peculiar bolt of lightning etched itself onto Mo Yu's forehead.
This lightning shimmered brilliantly, far surpassing the one on Lei Yin's forehead in intensity. Despite only being two grades apart, the difference between divine and eighth-grade was like heaven and earth.
As the lightning clan mark solidified, Lei Xuan's face grew increasingly serious. Sweat beaded on his forehead, his powerful dou qi rapidly draining away.
"What a terrifying seal. No wonder it hasn't been used in a millennium. Its energy consumption alone could drain someone without Dou Sheng strength in an instant!"
Lei Xuan's face darkened slightly, focusing intently on completing the engraving with perfect precision.
Sizzle!
The seal hovered half an inch above Mo Yu's forehead, carving an intricate lightning mark into his skin.
"Phew…"
After nearly ten minutes, the engraving was finally complete. Lei Xuan's face was pale, but his eyes gleamed with exhilaration.
"It's done."
As Mo Yu opened his eyes, the lightning mark on his forehead erupted with dazzling light.
Thud!
Under its intense radiance, even the most powerful Lei Clan members couldn't resist the pressure. With faces full of fervor, they knelt before Mo Yu.
"Heh, a Shen-Grade clan mark. After thousands of years, the Lei Clan has it again at last."
When the brilliant lightning flared, a faint yet domineering laugh echoed from the distant skies, its owner clearly possessing an awe-inspiring presence.
"I didn't expect even the patriarch to take notice."
Hearing the thunderous voice, Elder Lei Xuan was momentarily startled, then respectfully bowed toward a particular spot in the sky.
The dazzling lightning soon receded, converging into the lightning clan emblem on Mo Yu's forehead. As the emblem gently pulsed, it gradually vanished. Such emblems rarely appeared unless actively summoned by their owner.
Yet, despite its majestic aura, Mo Yu sensed the divine emblem had little practical use for him. It drew upon the power of one's bloodline, and his bloodline's purity barely matched that of an ordinary Lei Clan member. Thus, the emblem's amplification of power was limited.
Fortunately, Mo Yu relied on the dominance of his Heavenly Thunder Body rather than bloodline boosts, which sufficed.
In a shadowy corner of the plaza, a figure cloaked in black robes watched Mo Yu, their eyes flickering coldly.
"A divine-grade bloodline from the Lei Clan, huh? This one could become a formidable foe for the Hun Clan and might even hinder our plans. He must be eliminated discreetly."
"Nothing more to see here," someone remarked. "In time, the Black Thunder Captain will surpass anyone in the clan. As for the competition, there's no need to proceed—just declare him the winner."
On the testing platform, as the lightning dissipated, Elder Lei Xuan smiled faintly.
Though unsure of Mo Yu's exact strength, the divine-grade bloodline spoke volumes. The competition held little meaning for Mo Yu, which justified such a suggestion.
Mo Yu pondered for a moment before nodding in agreement.
Given his capabilities, the competition was indeed insignificant, and an early conclusion suited him fine.
"Wait."
Elder Lei Xuan's words had just settled when Lei Yin, whose demeanor exuded violence, suddenly interrupted.
"Hmm?" The three elders frowned. "What is it?"
"The competition can't end prematurely," Lei Yin declared firmly. "This is a grand event held every few years. While the emergence of a divine-grade bloodline is extraordinary, the clan still needs to become familiar with the Black Thunder Captain."
His words stirred murmurs of agreement among the crowd. They weren't aware of Lei Yin's ulterior motives; they simply saw a chance to witness the divine-grade bloodline's prowess firsthand.
The elders hesitated before turning to Mo Yu. "Black Thunder Captain, the clan wishes to see your skills. What's your decision?"
Despite their high status, the elders treated Mo Yu respectfully, given his divine-grade bloodline.
Mo Yu surveyed the eager crowd and nodded lightly. "Fine."
Stretching his limbs would be a good exercise. If Lei Yin sought to test him, Mo Yu would see how tough he was.
"Since that's settled," one elder announced, "let the sixteen captains of Eight Thunder Banner of the Black Demon Army take the stage for the competition."
"Unnecessary." Lei Yin raised his hand, addressing the elders firmly. "I, General Lei Hu, Lei Yin, challenge Black Thunder Captain Mo Yu!"
Swish!
All eyes snapped to Lei Yin's lean frame. A wave of surprise swept through the crowd.
On one side stood Lei Yin, an established powerhouse among the Black Demon Army's four generals. On the other, Mo Yu, a rare possessor of the divine-grade bloodline.
This showdown was bound to be spectacular.
"General Lei Hu," Elder Lei Xuan frowned, "challenging the Black Thunder Captain goes against protocol."
Though Mo Yu held the divine-grade bloodline, his upbringing outside the clan might have left him weaker than Lei Yin, who had been nurtured by clan resources from a young age. A defeat could tarnish Mo Yu's prestige.
Lei Yin understood this, which is why he acted quickly.
Even with a divine-grade bloodline, Mo Yu hadn't undergone clan heritage training. His strength likely hadn't fully developed. Lei Yin aimed to defeat him now before Mo Yu could realize his full potential.
For Lei Yin, who prided himself on his power, losing to Mo Yu in the future would be unacceptable.
Fixing his ferocious gaze on Mo Yu, Lei Yin's voice boomed:
"You know I'm targeting you. Even with a divine-grade bloodline, earning the clan's respect—and becoming Fei'er's husband—requires true strength. Show me your power, or your divine-grade bloodline will mean nothing but empty glory."
The competition rules allowed captains to challenge generals but prohibited the reverse. Thus, Lei Yin cleverly turned the tables, forcing Mo Yu to challenge him instead.
Swish!
The crowd erupted in astonished whispers at Lei Yin's provocative tactic. Though his intention was clear, no one exposed it.
Unlike other ancient clans, the Lei Clan revered warriors and loved battles.
Refusing Lei Yin's challenge wouldn't harm Mo Yu but might slightly tarnish his divine image.
"Oh?"
Under countless fervent gazes, Mo Yu smirked and raised his eyebrows.
"If General Lei Hu, Lei Yin wishes for a spar, I, Mo Yu, accept."
