Bridget continued to look around anxiously while fidgeting with her fingers. I looked around, trying to see what she was looking for. Seth came over to my side, following my eyes over to Bridget. "She's looking for Orwell."
I looked over to him, "he still didn't come?"
"He likes to be alone most of the time. He doesn't usually come to these events," Seth crossed his arms and shook his head. "But Bridget still hopes to see him."
"She's really in love…" I sighed out, turning away from the palace.
Seth came over to my side, petting Casper, who jumped at him. "Yep. She obviously doesn't know how to deal with it."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
Seth stopped for a second, looking over with slight awkwardness. "Well- I mean, she hasn't confessed to him for over the whole time they have been friends. She likes him. I hope she admits it already."
I gave the blonde a side eye, feeling slightly annoyed. "Right. And what about you?"
Seth chuckled. "What about me?"
I glanced over the male's shoulder and spotted Rory, who was mingling with their friends. Seth noticed where I was looking and turned back to me, his face flushing at the expression on my face. "That's not—don't try to compare those two things!" I kept looking at him, raising an eyebrow in questioning. Seth's face turned an even deeper shade of red. "Rory and I are different from Bridget and him!"
I couldn't help but smirk, shaking my head at him. "I didn't say anything about that.."
Seth looked on, his mouth gaping at me. Instead of giving a response, he turned his head and let out a huff. I giggled, shaking my head as the others began to come over to us. Bridget gave up on looking for Orwell, focusing on us instead, while Rory waved to their friends before landing next to me.
"Where to next?" The redhead excitedly exclaimed.
Bridget shrugged, looking around right outside of the palace gardens where we stood. Seth let out a nose, catching sight of Bridget before responding. "How about we go to Cupids Cove? We should check on Orwell since he wasn't here."
The short angel quickly jolted up, her eyes wide at Seth. "You-! You know he likes to be alone. There's no reason to.."
"Uh-huh." Rory shook their head, giggling like a child.
"Let's get going!" Seth suddenly jumped up, flapping their wings until he was in the air. Rory soon followed after him, hands on their hips. Bridget made a sound, following with her lips sealed. I was forced to follow soon after; I motioned for Casper to do what he wanted to.
We took off in the direction of the cove, my eyes catching sight of Casper following down below. I didn't understand why the pup wanted to be by my side all the time. The others caught my eyes, following him. Seth was the one to speak. "He has grown attached to you. He won't leave your side at all."
"I can see that." I felt my heart swelling when I saw him look up at me while running after me. "I don't understand it, though. Why devote his time to me and not go off and have some fun?"
Rory zoomed back towards Seth, knocking their wings in his face, which made the blonde spur and yell at them. Rory ignored the angel, flying beside me while making sure their wings didn't disturb me. "Are you blind, Vienna?" They giggled. "Casper is having fun; he is happy being with you. Let it be."
I gave a low chuff and turned away, feeling my face slightly warm at the knowledge. I decided to wave and make faces at Casper, who was far away from me on the ground. He saw and gave yips of excitement as a reply.
As we finally caught sight of the large cherry blossom tree, I felt the wind rush past me as Rory and Bridget sped ahead. Seth lagged behind, matching my pace so that Casper could keep up. I gradually lowered myself to the ground, allowing Casper to leap with joy now that I was at his level.
Seth came beside me, stirring his wings until they folded neatly at his sides. He looked up and watched as Bridget and Rory entered through a window at the top of the large tree castle. "Can't they wait for us?" He asked.
"Bridgets probably too excited to see Orwell." I snickered to myself, causing Seth to let out a laugh along with me.
We entered and made our way up the winding stairs to the third floor, where the others had entered. Seth waved to some cupids who greeted us, and some cupids stopped to pet Casper, who purred at the attention he was given. We soon found our way up to the window where Rory and Bridget were. But Rory was there alone.
The redhead was talking to a cupid who was reading a book. The girl with tons of earrings lit up when she saw us coming over. She sat her book down and clutched her legs to her chest. "Hey, Seth!"
"Kells, hey," Seth replied with a toothed grin.
Rory made a noise, shuffling over to Seth to drape an arm over his shoulder. "Why do you greet this slow angel and ignore me? I am wounded!" Seth pushed back at the redhead angel, who put their whole weight into him. The cupid let out a chuckle, his face warming up at the fight of the two bickering.
I gave an eye roll at their nonsense. "Rory, where's Bridget?"
The angel opened an eye to look at me. "Eh? Oh—" They pushed off from Seth, sending the blonde onto the ground. "She went off to the Orwells' room."
"-And that is...?"
Rory let out an exasperated sigh, pointing behind me where the next flight of stairs led to the last floor of the large castle. "Up there at the very end of the hallway. You'll find it, girl."
I turned to leave, hearing the angel yelp as Seth pulled them down onto the ground. Casper stayed for a while before he looked up to where I traveled up the stairs. He followed quickly, looking around at the pink and green vines that lined the staircase's wall. I focused on the last floor, looking around the halls that went in different directions.
"You've got to be kidding me, Rory," I groaned, glancing around the halls in search of something or someone familiar. Distracted, I turned back only to bump into a small figure. They yelped and fell back as I quickly spread my wings to catch myself. "I'm sorry—"
I stopped mid-sentence when I recognized the small cupid. She had short, fluffy pink hair, the same cupid I brushed my wing on when I was new here. She looked up at me, her red pupils growing wide at meeting my eyes.
"Oh, you…" She awkwardly laughed as she pulled herself up. The cupid looked up at me, looking a bit awkward. "You look familiar.."
"Yeah, sorry." I scratched my head, stepping back a little since we were rather close. I quickly shook off the shock, turning back to her with my eyebrows knitted. "I'm looking for a friend of mine, uhh.. do you know where a cupid named Orwell is? I'm looking for his room.."
"Oh!" Her face lit up, turning around and putting a finger on her chin. "The male rooms are not down this hall; here, follow me." She walked back to me, her wings lightly brushing my shoulder. I held back a squeak at the shock and softness that sent waves of comfort down my spine. Holding in a gulp, I turned to follow the cupid.
She giggled at Casper, who greeted her, counting down to the other side of the small parting room to the hall on the other side where we were. She turned back to me. "This is the male side. Orwell's room is probably on the far end. You will see his name on top posted."
I gave her a smile, "thank you." Before leaving, I gave the small cupid one last look. "W-What's your name?"
She gave a small smile, her teeth showing, as her dazzling aura spiked up, sending a wave of pleasure through my body. "It's Bunny." I held back a sigh as her big eyes made me almost faint. I nodded my head, shakily turning around when she stopped me with a small giggle. "And your name is?"
"Vienna," I answered rather quickly, feeling sweat beat down my face that was probably heating up. It suddenly felt hot and stuffy here…
Bunny shifted slightly, the gentle movement of her wings creating a soft ruffle in her feathers. A hand appeared, and the cupid gently brushed her finger below my chin, guiding my head back to look down at her. I gazed back in shock, my body tensing and rendering me unable to move or react.
"I apologize for making you feel this way." She chuckled softly, and suddenly, I felt warmth spreading from her finger. The tension in my body melted away like a wave washing over the shore. I released a shuddering breath, blinking as the heat dissipated with a gentle breeze. "I just wanted to get back at you for when we first met," she said with a playful wink.
I blinked a couple of times, unable to comprehend what she was saying. Bunny soon removed her hand and waved me goodbye, hoping that I would find Orwell. I was left to stare blankly at the empty space, feeling shocked and confused.
