At that moment, Jason Liu suddenly thought how nice it would be to have a girlfriend.
Ah, so true!
He felt that trying to figure out what girls were thinking all the time was tiring. It was scary too — like a warning against becoming a scumbag.
That afternoon, Jason stayed at his compay for a while. He sent a message to Lin Xiaohan, then drove back to his villa.
Lin Xiaohan knew that Jason would be returning to Zhou City in a couple of days, so she didn't complain. Instead, she asked if she could come along when he went to buy gifts for his uncle and aunt. Jason was happy about it — he wasn't good at picking out presents by himself anyway, so it was perfect to have Lin Xiaohan help.
When he got back to the villa, Jason went straight to the basement to check on the piles of golden dragons — tens of thousands of gold coins he had locked in the safe. To be extra careful, he had brought half of the golden dragons from Westeros and stored them here.
After all, only Jason had the key to the basement door. Most people couldn't even get inside, so it was very secure.
He stood there for a while, admiring the sight of all that gold stacked up neatly. After making sure everything was fine, Jason locked the safe, closed the basement door, and returned to his bedroom.
After taking a long bath and changing into clean clothes, he teleported to the warehouse at his castle in the winter market town of Westeros.
When Jason walked out of the warehouse and passed through the front courtyard, he saw his four personal bodyguards — along with dicken and ten other soldiers — practicing sword fighting at the small training ground near the castle.
Dicken was wearing a riot helmet, a stab-proof vest, stab-proof pants, and protective boots — fully armored from head to toe.
Everyone was using training swords. Thirteen people in total — Kent, Rubin, Chris, and others — were attacking dicken together, trying to bring him down.
But dicken, who was nearly two meters tall, easily handled all of them. Using his height and strength, and protected by heavy gear, he swung a wooden sword with both hands. Every swing knocked down a soldier.
"Get behind him! Grab dicken's legs!" Kent called out, running quickly around the side after seeing another soldier get knocked down.
Whack—
Dicken struck another soldier to the ground. Two more soldiers then rushed up and grabbed dicken's legs from behind.
"Ahhh!" he roared. He reached down, grabbed one of the young soldiers hugging his legs, and lifted him into the air before tossing him away like a rag doll.
His strength was so terrifying that the other soldiers, who were about to grab him, froze in fear and hesitated.
Kent shouted again, "Don't be afraid! Come on! Bring him down!"
Rubin and Chris kept swinging their wooden swords, distracting dicken by waving at his face.
Crash!
Seven or eight soldiers screamed and threw themselves at dicken.
His huge body swayed left and right as he tried to stay on his feet. His thick, powerful arms swung around wildly, and any soldier who grabbed him was quickly thrown aside.
Still, the other soldiers refused to give up. They all charged at him, trying to bring him to the ground.
Bang, bang, bang—
After a fierce struggle, dicken finally dropped several soldiers. His face turned bright red from exhaustion. His helmet was soaked with sweat, and he was breathing heavily.
Finally, completely drained of strength, he collapsed to the ground with a loud thud.
"Hahaha! We finally beat the big guy!" Kent laughed breathlessly. He sat on the ground, panting and grinning.
Rubin took off his helmet, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and gasped for air. "Man, dicken is seriously strong. If we didn't attack him together, we wouldn't have stood a chance!"
"Captain dicken, are you sure you're not the son of Old Rhodes and a giantess?" Chris joked, shaking the sweat from his short hair and laughing. "Otherwise, how are you this strong? Like an ox!"
"Hahaha, maybe Old Rhodes did find a giantess and got her pregnant!" Kent said, slapping the ground and laughing so hard he could barely breathe. "Otherwise, how else would he be this big? Probably even bigger than Lord Robert's father!"
The soldiers all laughed loudly, getting to their feet while still joking around. They let go of dicken, who was lying on the ground, chuckling along with them.
They all knew dicken was usually a gentle and good-natured guy. Even if they teased him, he never got angry, so no one was worried about offending him.
Hearing Chris and Kent say that he was born from a giantess made him laugh even harder.
Then a young soldier from the winter market town chimed in, "Hahaha! Old Rhodes must've drunk barrels of wine before he could climb on top of that giantess, hahaha!"
Everyone burst into fresh laughter.
The small training ground echoed with their laughter for a long while.
Dicken finally got up, pulled off his heavy riot helmet, and wiped the sweat pouring down his face.
Even though they teased him, dicken still smiled warmly. Compared to being bullied and insulted when he was a kid back in the winter market town, his companions' friendly teasing was nothing. He actually liked it.
"Next time we train, you need to beat these guys up properly for bullying you like that!" someone shouted.
At that moment, Jason Liu, hearing all the noise, walked into the training ground from the courtyard, smiling.
"Sir!"
"Master Jason!"
"Sir, you're back!"
When the soldiers saw Jason Liu, they immediately stood at attention and saluted him.
But Jason stopped a few steps away, wrinkling his nose. A strong, sour smell of sweat hit him.
"Stop, don't come any closer!" Jason waved his hand in front of his face. "Go take a bath immediately! Change your clothes! If you get any closer, I'm afraid I might actually throw up from the smell!"
The soldiers burst out laughing and quickly ran toward the bathhouse near the barracks.
A group of young, sweaty men hurried inside, giggling like little boys, stripping down, and standing naked under the showers to wash away the grime and heat.
The bathhouse pipes were connected to the boiler room near the kitchen, so there was always hot water available.
Jason also told dicken and the other four to shower properly. Then he himself headed over to the store out front.
When Jason walked inside, he was surprised to find Bran — the mischievous little boy from the Stark family — sitting at a long table in the hall.
Bran had all kinds of fruits and snacks laid out in front of him.
Martha's son Michal and her youngest daughter Lilian were sitting across from Bran, quietly eating biscuits. Neither of them made any noise or caused any trouble.
Bran, stuffing his mouth with biscuits, waved at Jason as soon as he saw him.
"Kahahah! When I came earlier, Lena said you had gone to the winter market town. Did you just get back?"
