Two days had passed. Except for the huge crater in the center, the whole island—with its complex terrain and strange geology—had been fully mapped out by the Dream crew.
Robin had also found a lot of old records and documents on the island.
At the moment, only Ryuen and Nami were near the center of the island. The others were still wandering around, exploring. After two days, the island still felt fresh and interesting to them.
"Nami, how's it going?" Ryuen asked as he walked up to her.
Nami was moving a measuring tool as she replied, "This sinkhole is really strange. The water at the bottom must be connected to the sea—and it looks a little like it was made by people..."
"Made by people?" Ryuen looked confused.
As they talked, he handed over the sketch board to Nami. She put down the tool and began drawing on the paper.
Ryuen continued packing up the rest of the equipment.
"That's right. The sky island cloud lines up exactly with the sea current entrance under the ocean. The accuracy of the current rising up—there's no way that's natural! But after all these years, it's already hard to tell it apart from something naturally formed," Nami explained.
Ryuen didn't say anything. He simply nodded. He didn't doubt Nami's judgment. After all, besides her weather sense, Nami's biggest strength was her skill with measurements.
Still, he wondered—who could have made such an amazing thing...?

"There is, but I haven't sorted it all out yet. The info's still kind of scattered—it's only mentioned briefly here and there," Robin said gently.
"That's great news!"
"I have a feeling that the rising sea current on this island was man-made. If that's true, there must be some mention of it in the documents!" Nami said excitedly.
Hearing that, the others in the house got a bit curious too.
"Got it. I'll focus on putting together everything related to the sea current first," Robin said seriously.
"Okay!"
"Thanks so much, Robin!" Nami said sweetly.
Even though Nami said she was counting on Robin, she actually joined in and helped her organize all the materials they had collected from the island.
Little by little, they finally found the reason for the rising sea current on this island, and the curtain of rain over the ocean outside.
Just as they had guessed, the huge crater in the island's center, the tunnel that connects to the underwater currents, and the floating line of island clouds above—these were all man-made, hundreds of years ago.

But the mayor of the island didn't want to just sit back and watch the place he grew up in fall into ruin. He knew that if nothing was done, the island would be completely lost.
So he started looking for a solution—and began seriously thinking about how to save the island.
Back then, the island's guard captain was a Devil Fruit user—and a very capable person.
He wasn't just strong. He also had a close relationship with the small Sky Island called Visalia.
When the mayor found him, they came up with a bold and creative plan together: they would dig a tunnel to bring the ocean current into the island's center, creating a giant water eruption.
On top of that, they asked scientists from the Sky Island to set up a special cloud layer above the island.
Once the strong current burst into the sky, the clouds above would catch the water. Then, little by little, the water would fall back down—creating a long curtain of rain.
This unique sight quickly caught the attention of travelers and became famous around the world.
Before they could make this plan happen, the mayor and the guard captain faced huge pressure and challenges.
After all, this kind of project needed a ton of people, resources, and money.
But they didn't give up. They stayed focused and kept pushing forward, believing that if they tried hard enough, they could bring life back to the island.
And after all that hard work, the Island Behind the Rain Curtain was finally reborn.
In the end, Rainveil Island became a tourist destination. Every year, thousands of visitors came to see the amazing rain curtain phenomenon.
The island's economy grew quickly, and people's lives improved a lot.
None of this would have been possible without the brave mayor and the smart captain of the guard. With their courage and wisdom, they changed the island's future.
But later, because of the world government's long-term pressure, many countries could no longer afford the high protection fees.
They were forced to leave the World Government and became non-member nations.
These countries were no longer protected by the World Government or the Marines. Not only did they face pirate attacks, but even the Marines started eyeing them as easy targets.
So more and more people set out to sea and chose to become pirates to survive.
And because the New World had a dangerous and complex natural environment, it naturally became a place where pirates gathered.
Rainveil Island was at the entrance to the New World, so it often got caught in battles between the Marines and pirates. Decades ago, during the time of the Rocks Pirates, the pirate forces were at their strongest.
It was during that chaotic time that Rainveil Island got hit by a terrible war, which turned it into the ruined place it is now.
In the end, the people on the island just couldn't take the unstable life anymore. They had no choice but to leave the land their families had lived on for generations.
Since then, the island was completely abandoned...
"The mayor and the captain of the guard were truly good people. But I guess even they didn't expect that the island they saved would one day fall again because of war..." Hog said with a sigh.
"It's really a shame that the island had to be left behind like this..." Nojiko also felt it was a great loss.
"I'm going to write all this down properly," Robin said seriously.
This was valuable history. One day, she wanted to share it with the world, so people across the sea could better understand how the world really worked.
