At present, Zuri was inside the car with Liam. There was no conversation between them. Zuri breathed a sigh of relief, knowing Liam didn't suspect that she had deliberately gone into the bakery under Oliver's direction. How Liam ended up there, Zuri herself didn't understand. Perhaps Oliver had arranged everything so that Liam would find her.
The atmosphere in the car was utterly cold. If she could, Zuri would have fled and left Liam behind. But she remembered her agreement with Oliver. Her freedom, and her time with Simon, were worth fighting for.
Zuri closed her eyes, hoping to dispel the cold atmosphere. Eventually, she drifted off to sleep, unaware that Liam had not slept at all the night before, searching for her.
She didn't know how long she had been asleep, but when she awoke, the soft light of the afternoon sun streamed through the car window as it continued down the road. She blinked a few times, trying to regain her senses. Beside her, Liam remained silent.
