A woman coughed, the heavy smell of blood irritating her throat; everywhere she touched, her hands would stain with blood.
"Newbie, get used to the smell; that's the only breath you'll smell on the battlefield." One of the other women patted the younger one on the shoulders as they climbed up the tower's rocky steps.
Reaching the top, one of them pulled out a magnifying glass from her pocket. Looking through it, the view below became incredibly clear, as if she were right next to it—the magic rune on the glasses was working perfectly.
"What did you see?'' asked one of the impatient women. The others looked out into the darkness and saw nothing but the red moon and snow.
"Coming…'' The woman scanned her surroundings carefully, ensuring she didn't overlook anything. Her face creased into a frown as she observed the devastation below.
