Chapter 424: Dragon King City
Li Meng stopped walking.
He stood by the roadside and hailed a passenger beast carriage.
"Where to, guest?"
The coachman was a human man,
around thirty years old.
As soon as Li Meng got on, he asked.
"To the Adventurers' Guild!"
"Alright, sit tight!"
The carriage, which had just stopped, began moving again along the wide street.
The beast carriage was much faster than walking.
In less than half an hour, it arrived at the entrance of the Adventurers' Guild.

South Continent.
Dragon Kingdom, Dragon King City.
Royal Palace, Throne Hall.
"Impossible, this news must be fake. The Kingdom of Armenia couldn't have surrendered to the Demon Race!"
A message from the temple had caused the queen to hurriedly summon all her ministers.
The news sparked an uproar among the ministers.
"It's not surrender to the Demon Race, but to the Demon God Emperor!"
"Who's the Demon God Emperor?"
"He's the king of the Demon Race!"
"The Demon King?"
"No, someone who conquered the Demon Kings!"
"I don't care who the Demon God Emperor is. The Kingdom of Armenia would never betray humanity."
"The message came from the temple. How could it be false?"
"What's there to doubt? The Kingdom of Armenia has already completely betrayed humanity."
"Not only the Kingdom of Armenia but also all the god-level powerhouses who fought in the Battle of Menia City have pledged loyalty to the Demon God Emperor. Only the Spear Hero and the Bow Hero escaped from Menia City."
"Hmph, that guy is really lucky. Why didn't he just die?"
"Exactly. Good people don't live long, but disasters last for a thousand years."
"This matter is strange. I think we should wait and see."
"Wait and see? Easy for you to say! The Demon Race has already invaded Dragon Kingdom territory. How can we just wait?"
The ministers argued endlessly.
The situation was too unbelievable.
A human kingdom surrendering to the Demon Race was something they had never dared imagine before.
But now, this unimaginable thing had happened.
"Your Majesty, the Demon Race is launching a massive invasion. One of their demon armies has even entered Dragon Kingdom territory. We must prepare early!"
The Throne Hall gradually quieted down.
All the ministers turned their eyes toward the graceful figure on the throne.
She wore a light blue sheer long dress.
Her figure was curvy and enchanting.
Her long water-blue hair flowed loosely over her shoulders.
Her flawless white face showed no expression,
but her brows hinted at a trace of fatigue.
She parted her lips slightly, and her clear voice echoed through the hall.
"What are your suggestions, my ministers?"
The ministers exchanged glances, each with a different expression.
One minister stepped forward and saluted with a hand over his chest.
"Your Majesty, the Demon Race's assault is fierce. With the appearance of the Demon God Emperor, the various demon clans have united, making their offensive unprecedentedly strong. Dragon Kingdom alone might not withstand the demon army. We must unite with humanity to repel them!"
Another minister stepped forward and saluted.
"Your Majesty, the alliance with humanity has long been established. We even sent a flying dragon knight legion to aid the Principality of Irisis. But we can't overly rely on humanity. The South Continent is vast and sparsely populated. Even if the human kingdoms want to unite, it would be hard to gather forces quickly. The demon army has already invaded our territory. Fortunately, it isn't the demon army's main force. I suggest we mobilize all our strength to destroy the demon army within our borders, to deter the Demon Race from future invasions."
Another minister stepped out.
He bowed his head in salute.
"Your Majesty, Dragon Kingdom possesses the most airships in the South Continent. I suggest we requisition all airships for the Papal Nation's use. This way, the Holy War army can quickly deploy to the frontlines. Once humanity and the Demon Race clash, the pressure on Dragon Kingdom will ease significantly. Dragon Kingdom must not stay out of this war."
The ministers' opinions were not unified,
but they shared one point:
there would inevitably be a war with the Demon Race.
The division lay in how to fight it.
As queen, Hai Weier did not rush to a decision.
She needed more opinions
to find the most perfect answer among them.

Dragon King City.
Adventurers' Guild.
"What a luxurious place!"
Li Meng sat by a window at a table in the first-floor hall.
The Adventurers' Guild in Dragon King City resembled a small castle.
The first floor was a leisure area,
operating much like a tavern.
The second floor was the quest hall.
The first floor was also where adventurers sought companions.
As the sun gradually set, the guild grew livelier.
The first-floor hall was bustling with noise and excitement.
Almost every table was filled with people.
Charming waitresses swayed their hips as they served wine and food to the adventurers.
Li Meng sipped sweet and sour fruit wine with a bored expression.
"Stone Forest Island quest, difficulty A-rank, target is Golden Crab eggs. Need a senior fire-element mage! Quick, join the team!"
A sudden loud shout startled Li Meng.
Not far away, a bald man had stood up at a table.
He shouted loudly, his cheeks flushed,
holding a cup of wine in his hand.
Several adventurer companions sat around him.
[A mage would never join a stranger's team alone,]
Xiao Bai commented in Li Meng's mind.
Li Meng looked at the bald man with interest.
After a glance, he curled his lips.
A forty-year-old mid-rank swordsman.
Pretty weak.
"Three-day tour of the seventh floor of the dungeon. Route with teleportation arrays. Profits no less than 50 Dragon Gold Coins. Seeking senior swordsmen!"
Another person stood up and shouted.
Instantly, the atmosphere on the first floor became even more lively.
Teams short of members seized the opportunity to recruit when the guild was most crowded.
Listening to the shouts around him, Li Meng's lips curled into a smile.
The lively atmosphere gave him the illusion of playing a game.
"The adventurer's life sure is interesting!"
If he had been reborn as a human, he probably would be traveling the world as an adventurer now.
That kind of life didn't sound bad either.
"Seven-day tour of the thirteenth floor of the dungeon. Fixed teleportation route. Need a mage. Willing to bring someone into the team."
Thirteenth floor?
Li Meng's expression shifted slightly, and he turned to look at the nearby adventurer team.
A strong team.
Five members, all at senior professional level.
No one knew how many layers "Roar of the Sea Dragon King" had.
So far, adventurers had only explored up to the fifteenth floor.
Even the fifteenth floor had many unexplored areas.
"Please help me! This is all my savings. I'll give it all to you!"
Just then, a woman's desperate plea caught Li Meng's attention.
