Chapter 20 - New Skill: Corpse Explosion

Four pieces of weaponry and equipment were neatly placed in front of them, each glowing faintly with a bluish-white light. The glow was reminiscent of the spectral luster on the skeleton warriors that had just annihilated their enemies.

Ning Yiyi pointed to the items. "These are weapons from the Kamen Orc Legion dungeon," she explained casually.

Lin Moyu was puzzled. He had never heard of this dungeon before.

Seeing his confusion, Ning Yiyi elaborated, "It's a level 20 dungeon outside Shaohai City. Those three who attacked us? They often ran that dungeon."

Lin Moyu simply nodded. These bronze-level items were of no use to him, but they would fetch a decent price. Without hesitation, he pocketed the four pieces of equipment. Ning Yiyi, unbothered by his actions, didn't protest.

There were also various materials scattered about—wolf skins, animal bones, young grass. Though not valuable, they could still be sold. Lin Moyu collected everything, thinking, Even a small mosquito is still meat.

Once the loot was secured, only one item remained.

[Primary Skill Scroll]

[Description: Can grant a skill below level 20, though it may be a skill the user already knows.]

To Lin Moyu's surprise, the scroll was quite valuable—worth around 100,000 gold coins. He pondered whether to use it or sell it.

"You haven't used a skill scroll before, have you?" Ning Yiyi asked, noticing his hesitation.

Lin Moyu shook his head. He hadn't.

"Then use it! Sure, there's a chance you might get a skill you already know, but you could also learn something new. You're not really going to sell it, are you?" Ning Yiyi teased. "It's just a basic skill scroll—it's not worth that much."

Her nonchalant attitude toward 100,000 gold coins hinted at her privileged background.

Lin Moyu held the scroll in his hand, unsure. "How do I use it?"

Giggling, Ning Yiyi said, "It's easy. Just hold the scroll and say 'use.'"

Lin Moyu raised an eyebrow but didn't immediately comply. He wasn't naive. There was no way simply speaking would activate such a powerful item.

Still, for the sake of curiosity, he quietly whispered, "Use."

Nothing happened.

Ning Yiyi stifled a laugh. "Oh, you didn't say it loud enough. You have to shout it to make it work."

Lin Moyu gave her a sidelong glance, his suspicion growing. Instead of playing along, he activated the scroll with his mental power.

Ning Yiyi had been waiting for him to yell out the command, ready to laugh. But when the scroll suddenly lit up, enveloping Lin Moyu in a brilliant glow, her face fell.

"You figured it out!" she exclaimed, disappointed that her little prank had failed.

The scroll burst into light, and soon, Lin Moyu was bathed in its radiance.

[New Skill Acquired: Corpse Burst]

[Corpse Burst (Level 1): Detonates a corpse, dealing damage equal to 10% of the corpse's HP to enemies within 1 meter.]

Lin Moyu examined the skill, feeling pleased. While the description seemed underwhelming at first—only a 1-meter radius and damage based on the corpse's health—it held more potential than it appeared.

In the world of necromancy, a corpse wasn't merely a lifeless body. It retained the vitality of its former life, sustained by flesh, bones, and even the remnants of its soul. Corpses, especially those of powerful beings, could harbor immense energy long after death. Lin Moyu understood this well.

This skill was clearly a group attack. In battles against massive numbers of enemies, skeleton warriors would be too slow to pick off foes one by one. But now, he could kill a single enemy, detonate the corpse, and watch as the explosion took down others. Each new corpse could be detonated in turn, creating a deadly chain reaction. As long as he had the mental energy, the explosions wouldn't stop.

And with his talent, the range wouldn't be limited to a mere meter. For Lin Moyu, it stretched to 20 meters, with the power boosted to 200%.

Another divine skill, as far as he was concerned.

As the light from the scroll faded, Ning Yiyi's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Well? Did you learn something new?"

"I did," Lin Moyu replied calmly. He wasn't upset about Ning Yiyi's earlier attempt to trick him. She was playful by nature, and he didn't mind her mischievous side.

Ning Yiyi beamed. "You've got a nice voice—why don't you talk more often? It's such a waste if you don't."

Lin Moyu gazed at her, noting how different she was from the girls he'd known in school. She was lively, full of energy, and constantly teasing. It was a sharp contrast to his usual company.

"You have a nice voice too," he complimented, a rare smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

Ning Yiyi's laughter rang out. "Thanks! I know my voice is great." She winked at him. "For saving me and paying me such a lovely compliment, I've got something for you."

With a flourish, she pulled out a box and thrust it into Lin Moyu's hands.

[Intermediate Skill Scroll]

[Description: Can grant a skill between level 40 and 70, though it may be a skill the user already knows.]

The intermediate skill scroll was an incredibly valuable item—worth 10 million gold coins, a hundred times more than the basic scroll.

Lin Moyu blinked in disbelief. This scroll was worth more than he could have imagined. The very people who had chased Ning Yiyi earlier had done so to obtain this scroll.

And now she was giving it to him, just like that?

"How can you just... give this away?" he wondered aloud.
