Chapter 53 - Chaotic Ambush

Leo leaped far from the armored lady, creating distance between them. His hand fell limp, his elbow nearly sliced in half. He held on to his elbow tightly, not allowing himself to let go of it whatsoever, cause if he did, it would have fallen on the ground right now and would have bled everywhere.

Numbness was quick on its feet; he could no longer feel his arm entirely. He looked at the armored lady with a smile, chuckling even.

He was at a critical disadvantage; one of his arms is currently out of order and was in the middle of bleeding out most of his blood. He couldn't use a weapon—his other hand was occupied keeping a part of himself together.

His eyes glowed blue, water spiraling near his elbow. It was regenerating... But not at a fast pace. Both he and Ena were in completely different leagues when it comes to recovery; for him, healing was only for AFTER a fight, not DURING one.

The armored lady charged herself toward Leo, sending him a barrage of attacks—the sides, front, back, and even under—she was relentless and didn't allow him to rest even for a second. All he could do was rely on his agility to try as much as possible.

The situation practically cornered him like a mouse; he couldn't attack, he couldn't run, and he tried to gain as much time as possible, but that proved even harder to do.

The armored lady shot her blade toward him, plunging it toward his chest at incredible pace. Leo dodged it by a hair's breadth, his face getting mirrored by her blade's surface. He twisted his body and rotated it as much as he could, using that momentum to attack and kick her in the visor.

He used his other elbow to knock her blade from her grasp, disarming her. That proved to be quite effective until it reappeared on her palm and struck with an unexpected attack.

The blade thrusted deep within his waist, and blood gushed out of it—spraying her armor with his blood.

As she drove the blade deeper into his flesh, her calf suddenly gave out, and she knelt to one knee while her blade was still stuck to the side of Leo's waist. Well, only before it had vanished into thin air, she looked from one direction to another, yet he was nowhere to be found.

Leo hid near a tent, breathing heavily while watching her from a distance. He took a glance at his arm, which was halfway finished, but many of his nerves and blood vessels were still unattached; he needed a few more minutes for it to recover.

'Women are always so complicated...' Leo thought.

Meanwhile, Tatiana was far from the camp; they had teleported quite deep within the woods. It was a surprise that the archer was even able to follow her despite her constant teleporting.

Getting info from Haruo was useless now; she only had herself to rely on, which was kind of fine with her. She never really liked relying on others, especially when it came to his brother and Leo. But that doesn't mean a little help wasn't at least useful; maybe like little information or call-outs would be nice. Sadly, she couldn't.

She hid behind a tree, trying to find a little cover while she tried to locate where he was. Taking a glance behind the tree, the archer had jumped from the other side, his bow pointed at Tatiana's back. The archer released the string that held the arrow steady before it flew at incredible speeds behind her.

The arrow hit the ground, not because it had missed, but because Tatiana had disappeared. Tatiana reappeared behind him, her blade stretched out to attack the archer. It sliced nicely in the air, but before her blade made contact, the archer grabbed her wrist while still having his face in the opposite direction.

Going behind the back was amateurish and unprofessional, but there are ways to make it work. Tatiana had used one of those ways, but sadly for her, she was still caught and predicted by him.

She had her eyes widened for a bit until she escaped his grasp and sent another strike, but he had already relocated.

The archer was a tricky one; not only had he followed her thoroughly and dragged her to the forest, but he was even able to predict where she was going as well.

She stepped backward slightly, dodging an arrow that was directed at her. She teleported herself above the trees, but not even a second after, another arrow was following her. She dodged it before it could stick itself near her shoulder.

The arrow had pierced through her clothing, and blood started to drip down from it. She teleported one more time, trying to reposition, but again she was shot by another arrow, and this time she wasn't so lucky.

The arrow had stuck itself on her left thigh, which stunned her for a bit. This gave him time to shoot three more her way; Tatiana took the arrow from her leg before using it to redirect them. Tatiana had a rough Idea what his ability was now, something that doesn't pair well with hers.

The ability to track not just one's movements, but to predict their next one. This made her ability highly risky to use without proper planning. With this in mind, she clenched her jaw while snapping one of his arrows in half.

'Isn't he quite annoying...'

As Ena was cleaning up, she caught a dagger that was inches away from her face. She glanced to her side to see two people—one boy and one girl. They resembled each other—maybe because of their shining brown hair or navy blue eyes—siblings, perhaps?

But she hadn't really cared whether they were or weren't, but she did see them once, when they entered their tents. They were the most radiant out of the lowly bunch. But how come they were awake? They did their jobs properly, hiding their bloodlust and becoming as stealthy as possible.

She couldn't tell what they did wrong, but she wasn't in the mood currently to think much; all she knew was to kill them before the situation became worse.

She flicked the dagger back to them, piercing the wind as it flew. Before the sister could get hit, she calmly leaned her head to her left, evading the attack without a sweat. That's when she saw something sparkle mid-air. They couldn't tell what it was due to its thin appearance.

Then, after taking a closer look, it was a crimson line. Ena slightly separated her hands, the line curving as she did. That's when she realized it was connected to the dagger.

She turned to see; The blade was already to her eye. It lodged itself inside the socket, splitting one of her eyes inside out.

"AHHH!" The sister screamed in agony while she held her left eye tightly; the scream was so loud it scattered all the way to the tent 15 meters away.

Her brother came to take a look at his sibling, giving Ena a chance to attack. The brother had good reflexes, and he immediately deflected it with his large iron hammer.

Blood covered the sister's mouth, refraining her from screaming. The brother pulled his sister away to create distance before taking a proper stance.

"Oh shut up, you just lost an eye. And you shouldn't go on crying now when you're the one who started the fight to begin with, fucking hypocrites."

Every tent within a 15-meter radius was destroyed with spikes made out of blood. She didn't want to risk the whole camp waking up so suddenly, so she even refrained from doing that to begin with, to create a clean ambush. But the situation needed it.

She only hoped that Tatiana and Leo had dealt with all the guards so they couldn't see the large spikes protruding from each tent. Ena scratched her scalp with annoyance as she looked at the siblings.

"You just had to ruin it, didn't you? We could have given you a peaceful death whilst you slept."

The sister tried to take off the blood covering her mouth, but the more she tried, the more it seemed impossible to do so. It only kept regenerating itself whenever she tore it apart, and what's even worse, it slowly seeps into her mouth as she does.

So the sister gave up for the moment and removed the dagger from her eye socket. She let out a mumbled scream before finally calming down and taking her own stance.

The brother moved first, while the sister moved parallel from the other side, cornering Ena between them. Ena felt a sudden force pulling her toward the sister's direction. She planted herself on the ground before she could get closer.

Her gaze was fixed on the sister, giving an opening for the brother, as he charged a large swing with his hammer. Only for Ena to jump upwards. She was pulled once she stopped planting herself in the ground; the brother fixed his posture and prepared another attack.

Only for Ena to easily deflect it, after Ena got close to her sister, she swung her blade at her neck. It passed through her cleanly, but there was no wound; her eyes widened slightly, and she braced herself as she was about to crash into her.

But she didn't; she passed through her and ended up far from the brother and the sister. Ena was in the spot where her brother was. She was slightly confused, but she didn't question it.

Knowing someone's abilities is always the confusing part of fights. She was lucky that she didn't learned it the hard way. But she always thought of it as a pain in the ass to try to figure out an enemy's ability all the time. But she was grateful that passing through her didn't shred her skin completely and only transported her. With that, she gained a little clue about what her ability was.

She was pulled in once more, but this time at a much faster pace than the last. Going straight underneath the brother's hammer.

Ena's foot struck the ground, launching her sideways; only for the force to change its direction and to her side, bringing her back under the large hammer—A huge pillar of blood stopping its trajectory, fixing it in place.

She placed her blade flatly on her shoulder, blocking an attack from her sister despite Ena's gaze being on the brother. The force knocked her far from the two. Her perspective suddenly changed, and she turned to see the siblings preparing an attack.

She stopped before she got close, tying herself to the ground with ropes of blood. Ena dragged herself far and placed her hand out; it vanished and reappeared on the other side.

'This is starting to get annoying'

Theodor and Isaac continued their killing spree, entering each tent as quickly as they could. In total, they entered about sixteen; they were currently in their seventeenth; they had broken no sweat whatsoever, but as they exited that one, a loud, horn-like sound echoed through the camp.

"Intruders! Intruders are attacking the camp!"

Both their eyes widened; to them, everything was happening smoothly, there were no flaws or errors, and even if there were, how come Haruo hadn't told them yet?

A lot of them hadn't woken up at first, but as the seconds passed, and they saw that most of their tents were cleared out and filled with nothing but a crimson stain on them, they went into a frenzy.

They woke up more of their men; more of the terrorists came out of their tents.

"What happened?" Theodor pressed his earlobe, trying to communicate with Haruo.

"There had been an unexpected encounter; about three people came into the area as we were attacking."

"What do you want us to do now? Are you going to join in?"

"No, someone needs to keep an eye on Rocky."

All of the division members listened attentively to what Haruo was about to say.

"But, I guess there's no point in trying to hide now. I'll allow you to use your full power, as long as you kill all of them."

The division's eyes illuminated through the darkness as they heard those words.
