High in the sky, Nagato was about to push harder when Seimei suddenly raised a hand. "Alright, that's enough. Take care of those eyes of yours. I'm outta here!"

With that, he didn't bother hiding his moves and activated the Flying Thunder God Technique, vanishing in an instant.

Watching him disappear, Nagato, controlling the Pain body of the Deva Path, narrowed his eyes slightly. His suspicions about Seimei's identity grew.

After waiting a moment to ensure no one was coming back, Nagato didn't waste any more time. He used his gravitational pull to guide himself back down to the Hidden Rain Village below.

---

Inside the Hidden Rain Village, atop the tallest building, Nagato's figure gently descended.

The next moment, a flurry of paper swirled through the air, and a figure appeared beside him. She had short blue-purple hair and a melancholic, distant look in her eyes—except when she glanced at Nagato, where a flicker of concern showed.

Who else could it be but Konan?

"Nagato, how'd it go?" Konan asked bluntly, getting straight to the point.

Nagato shook his head and recounted his encounter with Seimei.

After hearing him out, Konan fell silent for a moment before asking, "Nagato, could you tell who he was?"

"No," Nagato replied, shaking his head again.

"But," he continued, "I could sense he didn't have any hostility toward me. And… well, it's more than that."

"What do you mean?" Konan prompted.

"It's like he knows me—knows us—really well. I even got the feeling he somehow knew we'd take control of the Hidden Rain Village."

Konan's eyes widened in shock. "What? How's that possible?"

"I know, it sounds crazy," Nagato said. "But it's just a gut feeling. I can't explain it."

Clearly, being around someone he trusted like Konan put him at ease, and he was more talkative than usual.

Konan fell silent again, processing his words.

After a moment, she spoke up. "Could it be him leaking information?"

Nagato paused, then shook his head. "Unlikely. That guy has his own agenda, but he's not dumb enough to do something like that. We just started working together, and our goals align for now. Stirring up trouble would only make us more cautious, and that wouldn't help him at all."

It was clear they were talking about none other than Obito Uchiha.

And just as Seimei had predicted, Obito had indeed joined their operation to assassinate Hanzo, proving his sincerity in their new partnership.

The air grew quiet again.

After a long pause, Konan seemed to recall something and spoke again. "Nagato, what did he mean at the end, telling you to protect your eyes?"

At first, Konan thought Seimei's words were a threat. But after Nagato said the guy didn't seem hostile, the meaning shifted—it sounded more like a warning.

Yes, a warning.

"Could someone be after your eyes?" Konan asked, her voice tinged with worry.

Though she believed few in the ninja world could challenge Nagato, the thought of someone targeting someone so close to her made her anxious.

Sensing her concern, Nagato offered a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, Konan. We just need to stick to our plan and handle our business. As for the rest…" He thought back to Jiraiya, their old teacher, and his constant talk of fate. "We'll leave it to destiny."

Konan paused, then nodded seriously.

The two stood side by side, gazing down at the Hidden Rain Village in silence.

---

Meanwhile, as Nagato and Konan discussed him, Seimei had already returned to the Hidden Leaf Village.

Carefully avoiding the patrolling Leaf ninja, he slipped back into his home.

Seeing his shadow clone approaching, Seimei waved it off, signaling it to hold off for now.

He headed to the bathroom, gave himself a quick wash, then went to his bedroom to rest.

It had been a long day. He'd trained all morning, absorbed a ton of memories from three wood clones in the evening, and then faced off with Nagato. He was drained and just wanted to crash.

As for the memories from the shadow clone left in the village? Since it hadn't dispelled itself in the past ten days, that meant nothing major had happened. He could deal with those memories tomorrow after a good night's sleep.

With that thought, Seimei drifted off.

Soft snoring filled the room.

His shadow clone quietly moved outside, keeping watch.

---

The next day, Seimei woke up naturally, the sun already high in the sky.

He sat up in bed, stretched hard, and zoned out for a few minutes.

Eventually, he snapped out of it, fully awake. Shaking his head, he hopped out of bed and left the bedroom.

Spotting the shadow clone by the door, he grinned and tossed out a casual, "Morning!"

The clone rolled its eyes, didn't say a word, and dispelled itself with a poof.

A flood of memories rushed into Seimei's mind.

"Hiss~" Seimei sucked in a breath, caught off guard. "Geez, so touchy. It was just a joke!" he muttered.

In that moment, he seemed to forget that the clone's personality was just a reflection of his own.

Grumbling done, he headed to the bathroom, brushing his teeth and washing up while sorting through the clone's memories.

By the time he stepped out, he'd fully processed everything.

In short, nothing noteworthy had happened in the village over the past ten days.

Seimei shook his head, pushing those thoughts aside, and started replaying his encounter with Nagato from the night before.

Sure, it had been a spur-of-the-moment thing, and their interaction was brief, but he'd gained a lot from it.

First, he confirmed that the Hidden Rain Village had changed hands. The era of the Akatsuki had begun.

Second, he'd gotten an indirect look at the Rinnegan, giving him a clearer sense of the power he'd soon wield.

And finally, he'd planted a seed of doubt about Obito Uchiha—and by extension, Madara Uchiha.

He was sure Nagato would be more cautious about anyone eyeing his Rinnegan after that warning.
