As Uchiha Obito vanished using his Kamui, Minato Namikaze didn't give chase. His eyes flickered with a thoughtful glint.
For some reason, during their brief clash, Minato had felt a faint sense of familiarity from the masked man—like he'd crossed paths with him somewhere before. But no matter how hard he racked his brain, he couldn't place anyone from his memories who matched.
It was driving him up the wall.
Truth be told, after piecing together various reports—including Seimei's—Minato had confirmed this mysterious enemy was likely a missing ninja from the Uchiha clan. He'd combed through the village's records, even quietly cross-referenced with Uchiha Fugaku a few times, trying to pin down the guy's identity.
But so far? Nothing solid.
He'd flagged a few suspicious names, but after digging deeper, it was clear they were all dead.
So who the hell is this guy?
And what's with this weird sense of déjà vu?
Minato was stumped.
If Seimei knew about Minato's frustration, he'd probably quip, "Even the smartest guy misses something sometimes."
Clearly, Minato was blind to the obvious, never suspecting that the man was his former student.
But you couldn't really blame him. Back then, with the situation as it was, Uchiha Obito would've been a goner without Black Zetsu and Madara's intervention. So it made sense Minato didn't go there.
As for checking the body? Come on—would an enemy leave an Uchiha's corpse lying around?
That little detail let Obito slip through the cracks during the recent investigations.
But it was only a matter of time. If Obito kept stirring things up—especially right under Minato's nose—his true identity would almost certainly come to light.
After all, Minato wasn't some dimwit. One slip-up from Obito, and Minato would see through the fog and figure it out.
Wonder what he'd think then.
That thought crossed Seimei's mind, but he quickly shifted his focus to the meeting at hand.
Yup, a meeting.
Right now, he was at Uchiha Fugaku's house, sitting in with the clan's other jonin for a discussion.
The topic? Simple: whether to act immediately, team up with the village, and put an end to the chaos in Konoha.
In another timeline, the Uchiha clan had hemmed and hawed for ages, only deciding to act well after the Nine-Tails showed up. Even then, Danzo had blocked them, claiming their intentions were unclear.
But now, with Danzo—that old troublemaker—out of the picture, and with Minato's efforts easing tensions between the village and the Uchiha over the past few months, things were different.
It didn't take long for the Uchiha to reach a consensus: move out now and quell the village's unrest.
"Alright, since we're all on board, I expect no one to drag their feet when we take action," Fugaku said, his gaze sweeping over the room.
Then, he declared, "Meeting adjourned!"
One by one, the Uchiha jonin stood and filed out of the room.
Just as Seimei was about to leave, Fugaku called out, "Seimei, stay a moment."
Seimei paused, turning back with a puzzled look.
Uchiha Shisui, who'd also stopped, glanced between Seimei and Fugaku. His lips parted like he wanted to say something, but he held back.
Seimei's eyes flicked toward Shisui before settling on Fugaku. "What's up, Clan Leader?"
Fugaku didn't answer right away. Instead, he looked at Shisui.
Once Shisui left, Fugaku nodded and said, "I'll keep this short, Seimei. One question."
"Shoot," Seimei replied, calm and composed.
Fugaku didn't beat around the bush. "Is the chaos in the village tied to you?"
Seimei's brow furrowed slightly. Playing dumb, he said, "What's that supposed to mean?"
Fugaku didn't take the bait. "If the village's intel is right, the one stirring up trouble right now is the same person who's been sneaking into Konoha for months."
Seimei stayed quiet, just watching Fugaku, waiting for him to go on.
Sure enough, Fugaku paused, then continued, "I heard you encountered this guy during a mission and figured he might be an Uchiha. So…"
"Do you know who he is?"
Oh, so Minato filled him in, huh? Seimei thought, but his face gave nothing away. He answered flatly, "No clue."
Fugaku didn't respond right away.
After a moment, he sighed softly. "Seimei, I know you're your own man, but the clan and the village are finally on better terms. Don't go down the wrong path."
Seimei's mind screeched to a halt. Wrong path? What's he getting at? Thinks I'm gonna turn on the village? Am I some kind of radical now?
For a second, he was speechless.
But thinking back, he had accepted favors from the clan's Great Elder before. Maybe being pegged as a radical wasn't totally off-base.
Still, with the Uchiha and Konoha on decent terms these days, the radicals weren't exactly plotting a coup or anything.
A jumble of thoughts swirled in Seimei's head, leaving him momentarily distracted.
Fugaku, seeing Seimei's silence, took it as confirmation of his suspicions. His tone hardened. "Seimei, remember what I said. Otherwise…"
His Sharingan flared to life, three tomoe spinning, with a faint reddish glow.
Feeling the pressure from Fugaku, Seimei snapped back to reality.
But he didn't flinch. He just stared back, calm as ever.
The silent standoff lasted a good ten seconds until Fugaku finally dialed back his aura and waved a hand. "Alright, you're dismissed."
This time, Seimei didn't even bother with a goodbye. He turned and walked out of the meeting room.
He didn't stop until he was out of the clan leader's estate.
Only then did he glance back at Fugaku's residence.
In that moment, it was like his gaze pierced through the walls, locking onto the silent Fugaku inside.
"Heh, too many smart people around here," Seimei muttered.
He wasn't sure how Fugaku had connected him to Obito, but that little speech was clearly a warning: don't drag the Uchiha clan into whatever this was.
It also showed Fugaku's current stance—he just wanted to keep the clan out of trouble and mind his own business.
"Whatever. What's that got to do with me?" Seimei shrugged.
He slipped into an empty corner and used the Shadow Clone Technique, summoning a single clone.
Looking at it, he said, "You know what to do."
The clone nodded and headed straight for the village center, joining the other Uchiha and Konoha ninja to help calm the chaos.
As for Seimei himself? He activated the Ama-no-Mi ability and made a beeline for the Nine-Tails' hiding spot.
Yup, even though Minato had moved Kushina Uzumaki, Seimei had tracked her down using the Spirit Transformation Technique.
This time, the Nine-Tails didn't react aggressively.
Clearly, it was biding its time.

Meanwhile, the underground bunker Konoha had set up as a decoy for Kushina was about to get a visitor.
None other than Uchiha Obito.
With his Mangekyo Sharingan's genjutsu and intel from Black Zetsu, it didn't take long for Obito to zero in on the suspicious location.
Then, using Kamui, he slipped right in.
"Enemy attack!"
An alarm blared through the underground space.
Anbu ninja swarmed in, launching an assault on Obito.
But they were outclassed. Even the elite Anbu were no match for him.
This time, Obito didn't hold back. His Mangekyo Sharingan and Wood Release tore through the Anbu like they were nothing.
Some Anbu, in a desperate bid, triggered traps in the bunker, but none of them even scratched Obito.
Still, their sacrifices slowed him down.
But just as the Anbu thought they might hold him off, Obito suddenly stopped his attack and vanished with Kamui.
At the same time, unnoticed in a corner, Black Zetsu melted into the ground and disappeared.
It was clear now—Obito's rampage had been a distraction to draw the Anbu's attention. The real recon was done by Black Zetsu, lurking in the shadows.
And once Zetsu confirmed the Nine-Tails' jinchuriki wasn't there, Obito pulled out.
