The first person I ran into on my return to school was Ajin around the school gate after Cho and Hana dropped me off. I had totally forgotten about what we had promised, and how I just left without keeping my end of the bargain and literally disappeared for about 10 days.
"Ajin-, I'm sorry about last time"
"It's OK, Jenn. I understand. Hechan said there were good reasons for it"
"I see. Thank you for understanding"
"No problem"
"But… are we still going to talk about things? You said before that you had a lot to talk about"
"It's not relevant for now. I'm just glad that you came back safely"
I could never read Ajin in this kind of situation. Sometimes it felt like she resented me and it showed. Sometimes I thought she was fine with me but she was not. Sometimes she seemed to be a happy girl but I knew there was something dark happening in her life behind her smiles, but sometimes I see her lighten up the whole room with her bright smile.
