Chapter 313 - Serena Prince: Love of Magic - chapter 304

Author's Notes: Chapter edited and corrected by Scott Fellman.

Rias POV.

"Do I really have to be here? We already heard some of the songs and the script for Lady Prince before they started filming," Sona asked with a sigh as I dragged her by the wrist. She had arrived at the Hyoudou residence with her peerage, just in time for the premiere of K-pop Demon Hunter, the new series our siblings would be acting in.

The cast was truly impressive. Two Satans, a Seraph leader of the angels, the White Dragon, and the Prince of the Succubi. And well, I suppose Riser too. It was a truly impressive cast.

"You're here because if your sister finds out you haven't seen her new series, she'll come to Kuoh and force you to watch it with her. Maybe she'll even make you dress up or even sing the songs," I told Sona with a smile. Sona shuddered hard before a glazed, almost horrified look crossed her face.

"Let's end this," Sona said resignedly as she let herself be dragged along. I smiled broadly.

"It's good that you understood it my way," I said petulantly as I dragged her, and her Peerage into the mansion's movie room.

"Oi, Buchou! Kaichou! It's about to start!" Issei said cheerfully.

"Verosika!" Saji shouted as he entered the room and excitedly approached Issei.

"Verosika!" Issei shouted with equal excitement as the two fans reunited. I just shook my head playfully. Finally, I finished dragging Sona to the seat next to me.

"Alright, everyone, quiet!" I shouted excitedly. "And someone turn off the lights!" I exclaimed, looking at the screen, which was about to start. I heard Akeno's laughter as the lights went out, and then it began.

The episode began with a story. One that explained how demons stalked the world, stealing people's souls to feed their king, Gwi-Ma. And then the heroines appeared. The first demon slayers, born with voices capable of repelling the darkness. Their songs could ignite people's souls to protect them, creating a barrier that protected the world: the Honmoon.

And in each generation, a new trio of huntresses is chosen to fulfill their duty.

It was an easy and simple plot to follow.

Then came the introduction of the heroines, the Huntrix. Mira, played by Verosika. Zoey, played by Enid Sinclair. And finally, Rumi, played by Serafall. And finally, the first song on the plane, which ended in the middle of the massive concert stage.

"Wow, I'd already heard the song, but it's still good. Your sister is amazing. And now with all the effects, the set design, and the choreography, it looks really good," I told Sona, impressed. Ignoring Issei and Saji's shouts, Sona nodded.

"Sister practiced way too much for this," Sona said easily. "She was really excited for the premiere," she said with a sigh before smiling slightly.

"Well, they did an amazing job," I said to Sona playfully. She nodded, and we continued watching the series. And finally, Serena's introduction as Jinu came on.

There once was a mighty demon king

Stop me, if you've heard this one before

He was in total control

He feasted on souls

The world trembled when he roared

But then some hunters sang some songs

Now all he does is starve

Can't get at the souls, and his flame grows cold

Just a whisper in the dark

And will he let the fire go out?

Is this the end of him now?

Dying king with the crumbling crown

Will he let the fire go out?

Wow, that's quite a way to introduce yourself. Telling that story while gently playing that instrument in front of a horde of demons and mocking their king. I have to give her credit; it was an excellent introduction.

"Go after the very thing that powers the Honmoon. The Fans." When Jinu finished her sentence, she revealed her demonic face, followed by four other demons, and then… they posed? Like, literally, they posed!?

She had Sirzechs, Lord Michael, and Vali pose as their first introduction?! I stared in disbelief. Then she had them pose again, and several shots showed how beautiful they were.

"W-what?" I asked stupidly, staring in disbelief. Oh, Satan. Was that Sirzechs?! Why was his hair covering his eyes like that?! I heard Sona stifling a giggle beside me, and I glared at her indignantly. I could see the amusement in her eyes.

"You were right, this is fantastic," Sona said playfully. I just grunted in her direction. To my relief, their scene ended just as quickly, and they moved on with the Huntrix once more.

There was quite a bit of information; mainly, it was in charge of presenting and giving information about Mira, Zoey, and Rumi, about their past, and about their current relationships. Practically, the episode was in charge of introducing them for the most part.

Even after they sang Golden, the songs were still incredible, and their three voices were wonderful.

But the story also progressed, revealing Rumi's past and her hidden half-demon nature to her two friends, including her loss of voice and the fake doctor they consulted. Then, finally, the demons reappeared.

In slow motion.

I watched in disbelief as my brother walked in slow motion with that ridiculous hairstyle, the sunlight making them all look gorgeous. And then I watched with disgust as Riser stretched out, flexing his muscles in a Hawaiian shirt a size too small, his abs popping out.

Then Jinu/Serena appeared, and I blushed slightly. Serena was beautiful; she was a succubus, there was no denying it, but she was undeniably feminine, even though she usually dressed in a somewhat gothic and tomboyish style.

But now, as Jinu, she was almost indistinguishable from a man—a devilishly handsome man with a sharp jaw, elegant features, and high cheekbones. She… as a man, she was very handsome, tall, and slender. I must admit, I was almost mesmerized and blushed slightly as I watched the whole scene of Jinu and Rumi's encounter. I nearly gripped my seat as I watched Jinu reach out to help Rumi… only for her to brush the dust off her shoulder with a grimace.

"Uh... Watch yourself." Jinu said, wiping his shoulder with that look of contempt.

I couldn't help but gasp in utter offense as I stared incredulously at the screen. My gasp echoed through all the women present, including Rumi on the television.

"What an idiot!" I couldn't help but exclaim indignantly. To my surprise, even Sona seemed annoyed by the rejection, though she only grunted slightly. Then, the demons' song began.

I still frowned, though my shoulders swayed to the beat. Those damn idiots were good. It annoyed me even more that the episode ended with Jinu wiping his shoulder again while staring directly at Rumi.

"It was a good first episode," I finally said, pouting.

"It was," Sona said. "I really didn't know what to think about the series even after listening to the songs, but the plot is quite simple; it has several obvious clichés, but it works really well. I can see why my sister and Lady Prince were sure it would be a hit." Sona said, easily analyzing all of this. I finally nodded.

"Oh, it's definitely going to be famous," I said without hesitation. "And we still have the second episode. They did a double feature, which is quite something considering the episodes are over an hour long. I guess they wanted to grab everyone's attention," I hummed. "And they're going to succeed."

"A good strategy," Sona said, nodding easily. I hummed along as I stared at the screen. Then I narrowed my eyes. I hoped that Jinu, the idiot, would get what he deserved.

Vali Pov.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA! What was that pose?! HAHAHAHAHA!" My eye twitched as I watched Bikou rolling on the ground, laughing. I looked ahead where K-pop Demon Hunters was playing.

I didn't want to be here; I was forced to be here. I knew this would happen. I was going to kill Bikou and Kuroka, who was also laughing.

"Oh dear, Serena's introduction was all epic and dark, mocking the demon king and singing, and yours is just striking poses and looking pretty?! It's fantastic! Hahahahaha!" Kuroka laughed loudly.

"They look good," Le Fay said, laughing.

"It's... truly impressive. Somehow, she even managed to get Lord Michael and Sirzechs Lucifer to strike those poses," Arthur said, sounding genuinely impressed.

"It's fantastic! Oh, Buddha!" Bikou continued laughing loudly on the floor. My eye twitched violently. And to my dismay, it wasn't over.

"They're walking in slow motion!! Hahahaha!!" Bikou was crying with laughter as he tried to look at the screen. "Oh Buddha, oh Buddha, you're wearing a pink sweater, I'm dying, I'm dying! Hahahaha!" Bikou hit the floor laughing. Kuroka next to him wasn't doing any better!

"Nyahahahaha! That fringe flick! Oh, sweet Satan!" Kuroka laughed loudly. Le Fay was nearby, laughing happily too, while Arthur looked away, trembling and trying to stifle his laughter.

I clenched my teeth and closed my eyes. For the first time, I was considering whether it had all been worth it just to fight Serena. I had to get stronger so I could finally hit her.

And what's worse, it wasn't over yet; I knew exactly what was coming next. That damn song. I closed my eyes tightly as I listened to that stupid song. None of the four idiots said a word during the song, and I didn't know if that was good or bad. Finally, the episode ended with Serena/Jinu dusting herself off, staring at the screen, and the group disappearing.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" Bikou and Kuroka burst into laughter once again. They laughed for a whole 5 minutes. Le Fay and Arthur were no exception either.

"Hey, hey, hey, let's be serious for a minute," Bikou said, breathing heavily, eyes watery. "The song was catchy; I didn't even know Vali could sing, let alone rap. It was honestly amazing," Bikou said, completely serious, though he then smiled broadly. "Although, my favorite part was definitely 'My little soda pop!'" Then Bikou struck a pose, thumb to his lips and pinky extended, and burst into laughter once again along with Kuroka.

"Enough. Let's train." I grunted in annoyance. I stood up, grabbed the two idiots by the head, and started dragging them.

"No! Wait-nya! It's a double feature! We have to watch the second episode! We're your friends! We want to support you-nya!" Kuroka said quickly as she tried to escape from me. I remembered what was supposed to be in the second episode. I acted like a baby. My grip tightened.

"It hurts, it hurts, it hurts! It was a joke, Vali! Let go!" Bikou shouted in a panic. I followed them, stopped them, then teleported away.

This hadn't been worth it. I was going to find a way to kill Serena.

Riser POV.

"You were amazing, Riser-sama!" "Very well done, young master." "That was fantastic; it's a shame Riser-sama wasn't on screen for longer."

I lay back lazily, listening to my harem comment on the series and flatter me; I smiled contentedly and nodded.

It had been totally worth it. And not just to hear Lord Sirzechs bark.

------------------------------

Uriel POV.

Michael had gathered all the angels to watch a TV series. A series in which he would be acting. He didn't need to say much more for all the angels to show up for the screening. Everyone was really excited to see Michael act.

K-Pop Demon Hunter. It was a creation of Serena Prince and her Bishop, Enid Sinclair, where a group of demon hunters tries to maintain peace through songs and weapons, as far as I understood. Michael, to everyone's surprise, was acting like a demon.

Even so, all the angels had attended the show to support our brother. A message had even been sent to churches so that priests, nuns, exorcists, and all church affiliates would watch the show. We would have to support Michael, whether he acted like a demon or not.

So, we all watched the show. I was still worried that Michael had decided to play a demon, but Michael seemed completely satisfied with his work. But I only got more worried after he and the other demons sang that song, 'Soda Pop.' I could only look at Michael in horror.

"Oh, Michael, that was a lovely song! So fun and catchy!" Gabriel praised our brother with a huge smile. Michael nodded vigorously.

"It's all Fa-Serena's creation," Michael said, nodding with complete satisfaction.

"Lovely song?" I asked incredulously. "And the double entendre in that song?! It's... obscene!" I asked incredulously. Gabriel looked at me innocently, then gasped in shock.

"Did it have a deeper meaning?" Gabriel asked, surprised. Michael nodded seriously once more.

"Actually, it does have one" Michael said with a wide smile, then looked at Gabriel seriously. I looked at him fearfully. He won't tell her... or will he? "Remember, Gabriel, we're demons, we're evil, the song is about stealing and eating souls," Michael said seriously. I looked at him in shock.

What!? No, that- wait.

I paused momentarily before stopping abruptly. Was that really what the song meant?! About stealing and consuming souls?! It wasn't sexual at all?! I stared in horror at Michael as he kept nodding.

"It was written and composed by Fa-Serena; it's a truly profound and wonderful song, like all her creation," Michael said, nodding confidently. Gabriel smiled in amazement as she applauded.

"Oh, how wonderful! Truly an incredible creation! Our beloved father must have blessed her with the gift of music," Gabriel said with a broad smile.

"More than you think," Michael said with a wide smile. I could only stare at Michael, confused. Ever since he'd started seeing that succubus, Michael had been acting oddly. He talked about her constantly, even praising her. He'd been happier than he'd been in ages.

Our father's death had hit us hard. And Michael even harder. He was the leader of the angels; we helped him, but he carried the weight of all the angels and God's system. Although he smiled often, his smile was always strained and tired, though never fake. Michael's smile was always genuine when interacting with any angel, but the weariness and the burden took their toll.

Now… now it was as if all that weariness and weight had vanished; he seemed much lighter and happier than he had been in centuries. Even when Khaos Brigade threatened the peace, Michael's smile was truly radiant. He could remind some humans of that situation.

It was like… it was as if…

Was Michael in love?

I looked at Michael in horror once more; he wore a huge, happy grin as he kept talking about Serena Prince. To my surprise, his wings and halo were glowing brighter than usual. I almost sighed with relief.

It was a dirty secret and a source of shame, but succubi had led too many angels astray during the war, making them fall in love with them and have sex with them. But Michael's wings were truly pure, more so than usual; now they seemed to be the brightest in the sky, now that he looked at them closely.

I was sure something was going on. Although… if Michael was in such a good mood, it couldn't really be bad, right? My eyes returned to the screen as the next episode began.

I made sure to keep an eye on him, but for now, everything was fine.

Sirzechs POV.

"Yay! We did it! It was an excellent episode!" Serafall exclaimed beside me as she grabbed my arm and pushed me from side to side.

"It was. The recording, editing, and production work was really good." I agreed. "It really is different seeing it all together after filming it piece by piece." I nodded. Serafall squealed with joy.

"Exactly! It's magic! And this one turned out wonderful! Oh, I can't wait for the other episodes! Serena didn't want us to publish them all at the same time, so we'll have to wait weeks! It's torture!" Serafall complained.

"That's better," I said to Serafall with a sigh. "Maybe you and Serena could organize a live performance for the final episode? Maybe several TV appearances, interviews, concerts, or events to interact with fans while the series airs? To attract more viewers," I tried to suggest with a crooked smile. Serafall stopped and looked at me, her eyes shining.

"You're a genius! I have to talk to Serena about this!" Serafall squealed, standing up.

"You 'll miss the second episode," Ajuka said calmly beside us.

"Maybe later," Serafall said, taking her seat once more, though she was bouncing uncomfortably in place. Luckily, she calmed down when the next episode began. I sighed in relief, then smiled contentedly.

At least that would serve as revenge against Serena for showing me to the whole mortal and supernatural world with that stupid haircut.

Ah… misery loves company.

---------------------

Primrose Pov.

"Spica! Capella! Mintaka! Is there an update!?" I asked frantically, staring at the screen in front of me.

"The official fan groups for Jinu, Saja Boys, and Lady Serena are now fully active and official! We also created one for Enid and Zoey and another for Verosika and Mira!" Spica said quickly while pounding on the keyboard.

"I'm coordinating with our sisters!" Mintaka said as she wrote without stopping.

"There's new information! They just released merchandise!" Capella said frantically. We gasped loudly.

"Buy it, buy it right now!" I screamed in a panic.

"That's what I'm doing!" Capella yelled frantically.

"There's going to be a signing event!" Mintaka shouted, and we all shuddered.

"We have to be there! Buy the tickets!" Spica shouted, her eyes wide.

"I'm in line!" Capella yelled, almost hyperventilating.

"Aaahhh, buy 4 of each thing! I'd like more, but we must leave more for the other succubi!" I said ruefully while pouting.

"They uploaded new official images!" Spica squealed, almost drooling over the pictures.

"Send them to Evergarden! Send a request to have them printed as large as they have available!" I exclaimed without hesitation.

"This is what I was trying to do! They're getting flooded with applications!" Spica said in a panic. I cursed loudly.

"Come on, girls, we can't give up!" I said forcefully as I kept pounding the keyboard in front of me and stared frantically at the screen.

Azazel POV.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" My eyes were crying with laughter, and I could barely breathe, but it was the best day of my life.

Oh my god, that was fantastic! The poses. The songs. The slow motion. The movements. Michael's, Sirzechs', for the love of— Vali's! It was all fantastic!

"B-Benemune! S-send one of the Sacred Gears from the depot to Serena Prince as a gift; she more than deserves it!! Hahahahaha!!" I said between laughs, still spinning on the floor from laughing.
