The first demon's claws reached Damon.
It did not reach him cleanly though. His deflection hadn't been enough to redirect the strike fully, but it had been enough to change the angle, and the angle was the difference between a hit that ended the fight and a hit that informed him very specifically about how bad his situation was.
The claws caught his left side, skipping off the reinforcement across two ribs, and the impact rotated him further into the circle he was trying not to be inside.
The second demon moved immediately.
Something hit it from the side before it reached Damon.
Not gently.
Daveon's shoulder drove into the demon's midsection at full speed, the impact carrying both of them sideways off the line the demon had been tracking.
Daveon didn't stop with the hit. He went with the momentum, controlled the fall, and was back on his feet with the demon between him and Damon rather than the other way around.
