Natsuya was blocking every attack Aria threw at him, but each time their blades collided, the shock rattled straight through his bones, burning through his muscles and making it feel like his arm would just snap the hell off.
The clangs echoed sharp and metallic with each strike ringing in his ears louder than the last, drowning out the chaos of the battlefield around them.
Every dodge he made felt like it took every ounce of his mind and reflexes, but even then, it wasn't enough. Aria moved like something out of a nightmare with her every sidestep, every backstep he took, she was already there, like she'd read his mind before he even thought of moving.
