Chapter 60 - Chapter 50: The Horror Club Part 1

The gloomy tones adorned the cold of the night on the coast like a slow yet heavy song, the light of the Moon rising high in the mist, its rays barely visible through the opaque white of those same clouds.

Everything seemed poetic or at least that's how Adrian wanted to portray his own vision of the world. He thought: Hey, if made-up poetry made me think of anything else, then let it be welcome as my new habit.

He sighed as he dragged his feet through the streets of Beach City. His destination? He would say wherever his curiosity carried him, but that was already too shameless a use of some supernatural description or tragicomedy? He didn't know. He wasn't a writer to corroborate such things.

Briefly clearing up his own internal debate and the fact that he would never admit he was going crazy because come on, it's not cool anymore to become the archetype of a mad god, that's too overdone in his opinion. Same with sad emos though, to his disappointment, he almost checked all those boxes. Anyway, his destination was simply the city's lighthouse.

So much poetic rambling just to say that? Yes. And he would have made it even longer if it didn't get unbearably annoying past a certain point but hey, he was starting to enjoy it, so that was all that mattered. The rest could pass for an acid trip descriptive enough, with as many plot twists as to make Tzeentch run for his money.

Well, the rambling could go on, since there was still a bit of road left. And to be fully honest, he could open a portal there at any moment but why would he? There wasn't much purpose in such a banal action, besides robbing himself of the chance to see this beautiful yet lonely night.

Still, walking was annoying. Contradictory? Yes. But still, he walked gladly to his stop. Why couldn't he just do something like fly, or simply appear among his friends and scare the hell out of them? Nothing was stopping him. No reason at all. Simply, that's how he was. He wanted to do it this way. He wanted to keep feeling human. He wanted to do whatever he wished even if it was contradictory.

And yet, with all those excuses, he could only say he might as well be crazy already since anything he did would still make sense to him. Thinking about it, that's not such a bad way to live: doing what your heart desires, no matter how irrational or contradictory it may be.

Now, you might think his decision to walk was just foolishness, when he could easily show off but such a decision led to this questioning of how to live.

"Sometimes you just need a meaningless moment to appreciate the beauty of living one more day," I told myself as the lighthouse door came into view. The time for reflection was over, as were my ideas to keep this silly show of poetry going. Hypocrite? Eight days a week. Crazy? Forty-two days a month. Over the top? Like a goth girl's tits. Handsome? Bitch, I look like a literal Greek statue.

I laughed at my own joke before gently and softly knocking on the door. And by gently, I mean with the axe I pulled out of nowhere conveniently. How? And you still dare ask? One blow was enough to nearly bring the door down, and the screams inside didn't take long to come along with a pink and ominous light making its presence. But hey, I wanted to keep up the act before it stopped being funny, so no magic powers for the pink-haired ones.

The exhalation of fear came instantly from those inside especially from Nora, whose powers were useless for god knows what. And of course, I was that god knows what. I couldn't help but laugh. Without further delay, my face poked through the huge crack in the door with feigned madness or not? Not that they or I would know.

"Here's Adrian~" My expression twisted into a shade that couldn't be named, my eyes shifting sideways along with a smile stretching far beyond what a human face could ever express, and my laughter roared as the door finally fell.

"HAHAHAHAHA You should see your faces, guys, looks like you saw the devi " I couldn't help saying, right before realizing there was a fist in my face.

"I regret nothing," I said as I got up from Nora's very solid punch. God, this girl had to learn to control her strength if it had been a normal person taking that hit, they'd have most likely exploded just from the pressure.

As I straightened my head back into place, I could hear the others' exclamations, along with Nora's clearly worried look as I popped the eye that had fallen out right back into place.
