On the way home, Calus felt distracted. He couldn't focus; his mind seemed lost as the uneasiness grew stronger with each passing moment.
Eventually, he reached his home.
But his eyes narrowed. The place was too quiet. On a normal day, the forest was calm but alive: birds chirped, the river flowed, insects hummed, and even the herbivores made noises that reminded one of life. But here… in his home, there was nothing.
Calus slowly floated down from his spaceship as it compressed, landing softly on the ground. He stood for a moment, staring at his house.
It was small, but comfortable. Not a grand Eastgate estate, nor a massive mansion, but it held a lifetime of memories. The value of something lies in its importance. This house was important. And yet, a place that had always made him happy now filled him with fear.
His uneasiness deepened when he realized he didn't hear any heartbeats inside, no laughter from Eva, no voice of Mabi correcting her. Just silence.
