Thomas thought for a while, then shook his head and said, "No, our conversation was very ordinary, just the usual catching up. She didn't ask me about you or the ongoing war, nor did she give me anything."
"That's strange," Kaden said.
Thomas said, "I'll take people to patrol the surroundings again, and also send more guards to the outside of Lady Ireya's tent."
"If that female assassin named Selena intended to assassinate the queen, she shouldn't have startled the snake by seeing you first," Kaden analyzed, "but being a little cautious doesn't hurt."
Ireya also said, "She was captured in my room before, and until now we don't know why she failed. She probably won't approach me again before figuring it out."
Thomas returned to his tent, wanting to have a few bites of bread to fill his stomach before patrolling again. But as he grabbed the bread from the plate, his eyes were drawn to the wooden wine cup on the ground.
