In the evening, Xu Weiran called Sheng Ning'an.
"What did you do with my mom today?"
"Nothing much, just went shopping with Mother Xu, got some beauty treatments, and met her old friends. Why?" Sheng Ning'an noticed his tone seemed a bit off, not just asking casually.
On the other end, Xu Weiran's voice sounded somewhat helpless: "My mom just called and threatened me, saying I must treat you well and spend more time with you. If we break up, she'll sever ties with me and adopt you as her daughter."

She wanted to laugh but had to hold it in.
She knew Mother Xu liked her, but didn't realize she liked her so much she'd even give up her son.
Sheng Ning'an joked, "It must be because I'm so likable, that's why Mother Xu likes me so much."
Xu Weiran: "You're right, you really are quite likable."
