Two days later.
Jin Mo left her home, getting ready for work, when she saw a crowd gathered at the entrance of her residential area, all huddled around and whispering among themselves.
She wasn't one to seek out a crowd, and just as she was about to leave, she noticed a little boy standing among the people, his head hung low, looking very pitiful.
The sight of the boy caused a sudden pang in Jin Mo's heart as she realized he looked very familiar.
A woman's intuition prompted Jin Mo to turn around and push her way into the crowd.
The moment the little boy saw Jin Mo, tears sprang to his eyes, and he wanted to approach her but seemed too frightened to move, just standing there looking at her pitifully.
"Young lady, do you know this child?"
The neighbors all watched curiously; the elderly in the community usually had little else to do but gossip about others. Watching the young woman, they even thought the child might be hers.
"I know him, but not well."
