Fighting back her discomfort, Xia Chaoge lowered her eyes. Complex emotions swirled in them as she whispered, "Chaoge, Xia Chaoge."
Jiang Fan approached her with his hands behind his back, not letting her off the hook just yet.
"Didn't you leave saying you wouldn't choose anyone? Why did you come back?
"And why choose me, a member of the Human Clan?"
Xia Chaoge was stumped. She had always given unconditionally to Jiang Fan, never weighing the pros and cons. Just now, her instinctive retention had simply stemmed from the fear that he would leave. She hadn't considered anything else. Thinking about it now, would her unintentional act expose her closeness to Jiang Fan? What would the people around them think? Would they suspect that she and Jiang Fan had known each other for a long time?
"I... I..." Xia Chaoge stammered. After a long moment, she looked up at Jiang Fan's handsome face and said, "You're good-looking. Is that a good enough reason?"
