"This… doesn't feel right…"
Midoriya frowned as he watched the news about "Shigaraki Tomura" on TV.
The former leader of the "League of Villains," Shigaraki Tomura, had been captured. Naturally, the public sided with the heroes and the police. After all, Shigaraki had led the "League of Villains" to attack U.A. High School and had even targeted All Might. There was no way to justify his actions.
To the public, Shigaraki was a dangerous criminal who deserved to be punished by the law. No one questioned that…
But All Might's reaction was… strange.
From the bottom of his heart, Midoriya Izuku agreed that Shigaraki Tomura should be sent to prison. Someone as reckless and unstable as him was nothing but a liability to the League of Villains. Keeping him around could end up backfiring on them someday.
But after hearing the full story from All For One, Midoriya now knew Shigaraki Tomura's true identity. On top of that, there was All Might's public statement:
"I need to get information about the League of Villains from Shigaraki Tomura, so I'll personally keep him under my watch."
That statement didn't sound too strange at first. But for someone like Midoriya, who knew All Might inside and out, this was shocking.
All Might had always worked closely with the government when dealing with villains. Yet this time, the Symbol of Peace had broken his own principles and was clearly trying to protect Shigaraki Tomura.
For now, no one was saying much, and the government was keeping silent, almost as if they were accepting All Might's decision. Or perhaps, the sheer weight of the Symbol of Peace in the hearts of the people had forced the Japanese government to back down.
At a glance, it seemed fine. But Midoriya couldn't ignore the bigger issue—this was a major stain on All Might's reputation, something that could be used against him.
Not to mention, the one who hated All Might the most—All For One—had created this whole situation. That man would definitely use this as a chance to spread damaging rumors about him.
In Japanese society, most of All Might's supporters were ordinary citizens. However, the wealthy elites, those in high positions, never really liked the No.1 hero. After all, their shady dealings had been disrupted by All Might more times than they could count.
It had been mentioned before—many of Japan's government institutions were controlled by powerful families and business conglomerates. The so-called "law" was just a tool they used to protect their own interests. But compared to an era of complete chaos, at least that piece of paper called "law" still served a purpose.
All Might was the greatest hero, but before that, he was just a person of flesh and blood. And human strength had its limits.
He couldn't save everyone. He needed the help of others to bring true peace to a chaotic society. That was something the opportunists had also realized.
All For One had once ruled Japan from the shadows as its dark emperor. But why was it that even someone like Endeavor had never heard of his name? There was a reason for that.
Japan had always been a society built on rigid power structures. The people who held authority at the top had never changed. They continued to install their chosen figures into positions of influence, using their business empires to control the nation.
Even when Quirks first appeared and caused massive upheaval, those cunning opportunists always found ways to protect their own interests.
When All For One emerged, he used brute force to put an end to the chaos and built a powerful faction loyal to him. The ruling elites saw the situation and immediately swore allegiance to him.
Since intelligent people were willing to serve as his pawns, All For One didn't refuse. He believed in survival of the fittest, letting society remain in a state of disorder and violence. His ideology clashed with the interests of the elite, but they had no choice but to work under him to avoid being completely wiped out.
From the shadows, All For One watched the suffering of society with amusement. Each generation of One For All users and their allies challenged him, and he treated their battles as a game.
If he truly wanted to eliminate One For All completely, it would have been easy. But that wasn't what he desired.
When the seventh user, Shimura Nana, fought and died buying time, and All Might was forced to flee to America, it was because All For One had deliberately let him go. If he had really wanted All Might dead, it wouldn't have been difficult.
But things didn't go as he expected. When All Might returned from America, he smashed All For One's head open. Against a fully powered All Might, the so-called dark emperor had no choice but to flee. The eighth One For All user's strength had far exceeded his predictions—All Might had become a monster beyond belief.
As All Might dismantled All For One's forces one by one, the opportunists among the elites saw their chance. They approached All Might and offered to help him restore order to society.
All Might immediately agreed. The elites needed a stable society to continue making money, and so, for many years, All Might and All For One remained locked in battle. It wasn't until a few years ago that their fight finally ended—All Might was severely wounded, and All For One was left on the brink of death.
As society gradually returned to peace, the elites who had regained control realized something—the Symbol of Peace was becoming an obstacle. Because of him, countless illegal deals were being disrupted. All Might, with his unwavering sense of justice, had stepped on the wrong people's toes.
On one hand, the Japanese government needed the Symbol of Peace. On the other, All Might's influence among the people had grown so powerful that he was starting to overshadow the government itself. This made those in charge uneasy.
So now, even though the government seemed to be stepping back on the surface, behind the scenes, they would definitely use this opportunity to tarnish All Might's reputation. And that was something the elite were very skilled at.
"This is bad…"
As Midoriya Izuku scrolled through the internet, he could already see negative statements about All Might popping up. Normally, this kind of thing wasn't a big deal. But right now, with the League of Villains being the center of attention, any damage to All Might's reputation could have serious consequences.
Most importantly, Midoriya couldn't accept this. All Might was his greatest hero. He refused to let things go this way!
