Chapter 281 - Human camp (part 8)

Victor was lying on the military bed brought by the lieutenant about 30 minutes ago. Silence. The tent was in complete darkness as Victor looked from side to side, his beautiful blue eyes not shining, but instead admiring the sweet darkness.

That deep darkness was something beautiful. Many relate darkness to the first great human fear. A primitive terror, but with good reason. Anything could happen in the darkness, and it limited humans at that time.

In the midst of that darkness, humans lost their loved ones, starved to death, and every noise ceased. They felt the gaze of predators and any strange beings hidden in the darkness. 

It was the moon and the stars that calmed that fear. Their light may not have been for them, but it was the light that protected them on the darkest nights until the arrival of fire.
