The tension in the cars was such that if someone waved a knife in the air, it would seem to cut invisible threads. Victor watched Valery from the third car, his gaze fixed on the man standing next to Valery with a gun pointed at his head. Valery showed no reaction to this, but Victor couldn't bear it. He just bit his tongue hard as they watched them.
Victor wasn't far from surveillance either. Like Valery, he was being watched by the soldiers standing next to him. They did not raise any weapons against him because they could feel a cold blade at their necks when they took an aggressive stance.
Both Valery and Victor looked with hatred at those who threatened them, but neither of them tried to do anything against those who were attacking them. Valery did this for Victor, and Victor did not want to ruin Valery's plans.
