"Sir, all we are asking is that you take us to the last checkpoint. Then you can be on your way back to Zubie," Jasmine pleaded, her voice carrying the weight of desperation. At the mention of Zubie, Brodosky's eyes widened in realization.
Both Earth and Zubie had become unsafe—no longer places fit for habitation. The thought struck him with finality. He needed to stay as far away from both planets as possible.
"A deal is a deal. I did my part, so why are you demanding more from me? I rest my case here." His voice was firm, his stance unyielding.
Jasmine refused to back down. "You did not make a deal with us. In fact, you abducted us. We had no say in the matter, so why do you speak of deals?" She took a steadying breath before continuing, "Would it be just for you to leave us stranded in a desolate land?"
