Helanie:
"You should have sat in the back seat. You must be so restless." The Kaye who had abducted me was starting to soften toward me.
He had said the same thing at least twenty times in the last ten minutes before we started our journey again.
"It's okay. I told you I want to sit with you," I reminded him, repeating my answer from earlier.
"Anyway, is there anything you want me to do?" he asked, sounding different this time.
"No, it's fine," I replied, though I was breathless. I was still in pain, and my back hurt the most.
"You know what?" He suddenly stopped the car and turned to me. "Let me give you a foot massage," he suggested as he got out of the car and went through his things.
He didn't have anything that could help with a massage, so he walked over to my side, opened the door to let me breathe some fresh air, and then just stared at me in confusion.
