I wished I had been quick and called Norman. But the minute I looked down at my phone, he would have attacked me. The only reason he had retained the conversation for this long was because he knew I wasn't planning any backup at the moment.
"Aww, what do you plan to do with that, huh? Call my brothers to come fight me for you?" he sneered. "Such a nasty one you are, huh? I knew you were dangerous. A beautiful creature who lures men and makes them follow her orders."
The way he described me was horrible. That wasn't who I was. His words triggered some past trauma.
"You know that's not me," I uttered shakily.
"I don't care," he replied, and came at me again, swinging the knife.
I ducked, the blade slicing the air just above my head. I grabbed a chair and shoved it at him. It hit his chest and knocked him back into the bookshelf. Books fell all around him.
