Three days later, Serah strode down the long marble hallway of the upper wing. The weight of the day pressed heavily on her shoulders — three meetings back-to-back, all filled with pompous nobles arguing over titles, land, and coin. By the time she reached the doors of her office, she felt as though her soul had been wrung dry.
The doors opened with a faint creak as she entered, and without a second thought, she dropped herself into her chair with such force that the poor thing let out a protesting groan beneath her.
"Ugh… these damn old pigs really know how to say a whole bunch of nothing for hours," she muttered, dragging a hand across her face. Her voice was tired, laced with irritation. "By the stars, I think I lost more brain cells than I did patience."
