In the Marvel world, development is fast, with both large mainframes and smaller personal computers similar to modern desktops already present this early. Convincing my father, John Grey, was easy, and we filed for a patent. I also built detailed documentation, sleek websites, and robust network security while self-hosting everything. The language quickly became popular in open-source communities, and its popularity skyrocketed in just a few months. Commercial licensing was strict, and I declined all media interviews.
A year later, I worked on open-source kernels and distribution tools, releasing them under a general public license. I also enlisted help from my inner universe to speed up development in exchange for money or items. This was incredibly helpful as they are fully loyal. I released an enterprise edition with a GUI that was years ahead of the competition, and my products were flawless and highly optimized, leading to insane efficiency and income for other companies. Which also helped as to afford high tier premium hosting agencies.
Because of weak IP laws, I was able to incorporate open-source ideas and services into the enterprise version, rapidly gaining public acceptance, with just mentioning credits. Income from the enterprise editions supported my family. Though the open-source version took time to gain popularity, I had already received death threats from some companies.
Eventually, I formed a company and named it Phoenix Innovations. We moved to a more luxurious and safer environment. With my divine sense, any malicious attempts were detected at bud, and they all faced a series of logical misfortunes. Next 3 years were free before apocalypse. So, my company grew and formed an LLC next year under my contributions. New headquarters were built, and we recruited some graduates with the help of John Grey as he was actually a science professor in a university. It helped very much.
I regularly monitored the presence of mutant underground camps and, interestingly, found Sage—a mutant girl who has green eyes, dark hair, and a fair complexion—at just 13 years old, similar to Jean. Discreetly, I managed to obtain her genetic data with an unnoticed touch. This triggered a transformation in me, granting the ability to think like a supercomputer with unlimited calculation, storage for perfect recall, analyze the genetics with a sight. My enhanced mind allows me to analyze my surroundings, perform rapid probability calculations, multitask effectively, and replicate physical actions I've observed. I can also control my bodily functions and 'see' a person's genetic code to identify mutants, understand their powers, and selectively evolve their genetic traits or catalyze latent potential.
Originally my comprehension is very great but now, my mental abilities had expanded into entirely new realms.
Years passed as I was busy with having fun at school, releasing updates for digital products and being with Jean. Especially the school part, as I have many loyal fan girls and fan boys for my looks and my tech products. Jean is jealous as girls talk behind my back about myself. Jean had a nice childhood compared to before. I think she already forgotten all my power as she now sees me acting as her dear brother.
But she began to exhibit low amounts of matter decomposition ability recently. She also learned to ignite intense flames on her months before. As it was now 1981, I decided it was time to talk to her about Xavier's school and other mutants. She was eager to see them. I removed the shield's negation, and her and mine psionic signatures are now visible as mutants.
Two weeks later, a car pulled up near our home. Professor Xavier and Hank McCoy stepped out and approached the door.
My father was the one to answer. "Gentlemen, how can I help you?" he greeted.
Xavier smiled politely, nodding. "Good evening, Mr. John Grey. We are the ones who called you on behalf of Xavier's Institute before. May we come in?" His calm presence seemed to put everyone at ease, and my father welcomed them inside.
We were already waiting in the living room when they entered. Xavier looked directly at me. "I've seen you in the news," he said with a knowing smile. "It's an honor to meet you in person, Mr. Nathan Grey."
After a few light introductions, Xavier got to the point. "You're both mutants," he said gently. "Like many others, you possess incredible abilities. With the world changing, especially with Magneto's public declarations and Mystique's actions you probably seen in news few years back, it's important to understand what we are—and how we fit into it."
He paused for a moment. "That's why I'm here. I'd like to offer you both a place at my institute, a safe space where you can learn to control your abilities, but as I understand, you both enjoys your life very much unlike the majority out there. So, this is an invitation."
Hank McCoy nodded in agreement, "It's a place for people like us. You'll have access to resources, support, and a community of others like you."
Xavier then added, "Of course, this is entirely up to you. If you're comfortable, you can reveal your abilities as you both were registered as powerful mutants in our scan."
Jean and I exchanged a glance. "Why don't you show your power as well. We can't reveal such sensitive news freely." Xavier spoke directly to both our minds as I gave permission to message us. While Hank Transformed into a furry beast. I stepped forward, raising a few objects in the room with my telekinesis and some matter transmuting (disguised reality altering).
Jean followed, doing the same but also the telepathy.
Xavier smiled warmly. "Impressive," he said.
"We're open to your offer," I replied. "But... we don't want to be tied down to the institute completely. And I definitely don't want to be reported in any official capacity."
Xavier gave a knowing nod. "Understandable. Being a young entrepreneur and a mutant might raise complications in society. We'll respect your wishes and keep things discreet."
Our parents had already noticed that we were hiding something from them, especially since we frequently followed news about mutants and Jean Grey's 'illness' episodes earlier. So, they were aware of the situation to some extent. After speaking with Xavier and confirming what he told us, they hesitantly agreed to his offer, though it took some time for them to fully come to terms with it.
Once the arrangements were finalized and the transfer from our old school was completed, we made the move to Xavier's mansion.
As we approached, the mansion came into view—an expansive, grand estate, standing tall amidst sprawling grounds. The architecture was old, elegant, and stately, with ivy crawling up its stone walls, yet there was a sense of modernity woven through the surroundings, as if the place had evolved over time to serve a far greater purpose.
As the car pulled up to the main entrance, we stepped out. The air was cooler here, fresh and quiet, almost as if the mansion itself was offering a sense of calm and protection. A large iron gate stood behind us, guarding the institute's grounds from the world beyond.
Hank McCoy was waiting at the front steps, standing next to Xavier, who sat in his wheelchair with a gentle smile. "Welcome," Xavier said warmly, gesturing toward the mansion. "This will be your new home, a place where you can truly be yourselves."
The double doors opened, revealing a grand hallway that stretched far inside, flanked by marble pillars and polished floors. Students of all ages moved about, some glancing curiously in our direction, others going about their day with casual ease.
Hank led the way as Xavier continued to speak. "You'll find that the institute is a safe haven, a place where you can develop your abilities without fear or judgment. You'll meet others like yourselves, all learning, growing, and facing the same challenges."
As we walked deeper into the mansion, I could feel several mutant signatures all around us. Some of them are physically deformed, most of them younger than us. After some admission procedures we were tested for physical strength. Jean showed half her strength, while i showed double of hers. I momentarily changed the blood sample taken from us to regular mutant blood of telekinetic abilities with reality manipulation. Just to avoid excess questions now and they can figure it out later. Both of our telekinetic abilities were tested and already evaluated as superior mutant abilities on par with magneto.
Xavier attempted to enter our minds one night, but I had already applied my negation ability, making us completely undetectable—even by Cerebro. It was amusing to see him puzzled.
Days passed, and Jean quickly became friends with everyone while I focused on my own work. Jubilee, always cheerful and energetic, often chatted with me about tech. Nightcrawler was religious and playful, and Alex Summers (Havoc), though older and rebellious, was protective of Xavier's students.
