Chapter 3 - Shadows at Dawn: The Siege of Elven Enchantment 1

The Elf Village of Eldoven is a picturesque settlement characterized by its harmonious integration with nature. Nestled among ancient trees, the village features elegant wooden structures adorned with intricate carvings, reflecting the artistry of its inhabitants. Lush gardens and vibrant flora surround the dwellings, creating a serene atmosphere that embodies the elves' deep connection to the land. The village is a hub of culture and tradition, where music and storytelling flourish, and the community thrives in unity and peace.

Elves are often portrayed as mystical beings who protect the natural world and possess magical abilities. They are said to live in harmony with nature using their powers to maintain balance and order in the forests and mountains. These creatures are known for their connection to the earth and their ability to communicate with animals and plants. Through their actions elves serve as guardians of the environment ensuring that it is preserved and protected for future generations to enjoy.

In addition to their role as protectors of nature elves are also believed to be keepers of ancient magic. They are said to possess knowledge of spells and enchantments that can be used to heal protect or bring good fortune. It is said that elves use their magic to ward off evil forces and maintain peace and harmony in the world. Their connection to the mystical realm makes them powerful allies in times of need as they are able to tap into the forces of nature and harness its energy for the greater good.

The Celebration

Aerylin is still in her red-like tall vertical based mushroom house when her friends climb up to get her out of bed. They knock but there is no answer, they decide to peek through the window and there they saw Aerylin covering her ears with cotton-like pillows. They yell 'Aerylin open up'. Aerylin is very furious, she seems like she does not want to talk to anybody. 'Go away' she replied. Aerylin knew that her friends would not go away that easily.

Nerida one of her friends which was actually her best friend climbed up the window and said 'Come on Aerylin let me in' she said. Aerylin recognized that voice anywhere, she immediately removed the pillow-like material from her ears and went over to the door. Aerylin was wearing a an off-shoulder dress that had a triangle shaped hem.

Nerida came in and sat on the bed that was made out of feathers. There was a brief suspense between the two for a while. Then Nerida opened up the conversation after she noticed that Aerylin was not at all ready to be in a conversation at that particular moment in time.

'Why are you still in bed?' Nerida asked. Nerida was hoping to get a positive response from Aerylin but instead she got a very heavy sigh. 'I don't know' Aerylin replied. Nerida was shocked by her response to the question, it was not a definite answer.

'What do you mean by I don't know?, are you trying to quarantine yourself, because if it's what you ae try...' Nerida said while Aerylin walked towards the door leaving Nerida alone on the bed. '...ing to do, it's not working' Nerida completed. 'I'd like to quarantine myself if that's what you call locking yourself inside your room trying to ex-communicate yourself from the ones you love for reasons best known to you' Aerylin replied.

'What do you mean?' Nerida asked Aerylin who was still standing by the door. The door was made of bamboo sticks and decorated with shiny feathers.

'Come on Nerida, don't pretend like you don't know what I did yesterday during practice' Aerylin replied raising her voice a little trying to make her point known.

Nerida took time to pause, she was puzzled and her thoughts on what to say next was not crystal clear to her understanding.

'A- Aerylin, so you-you still carry those thoughts of what hap-happened yes-yesterday in mind?' Nerida asked. 'Don't be silly, you don't have an idea the amount of embarrassment that I incurred yesterday' Aerylin said. Nerida stood up and went towards Aerylin who was still standing by the door.

Nerida gently touched her by the shoulder and said 'It's ok, besides everyone made mi-mistakes I mean there is no big deal about it'. 'What do you mean?' Aerylin asked. Nerida held her hands and took her to the bed for them both to sit and more insights to be shared.

Then Nerida used her water powers to create water like versions of the characters in her tale.

'I too made mistakes, when I was still a young elf, still learning how to control my powers, I made so many mistakes almost making me to give up. I did not want to give up but I was forced to do so until... my mum was captured the war beasts and then when the spear went through her heart, I was enraged and behold I strangled the war beast with my water powers but my mum died' Nerida said.

'Then why is she still alive?' Aerylin asked with curiosity. 'I went to meet the elder chief and he told me to take her to the crystal waters there I drowned her and behold life came to her once again' Nerida replied. 'Ok, so what you are trying to say is I need something to trigger my emotions in other to let out my inner powers?' Aerylin asked. 'Mhm' Nerida nodded and replied.

'So now that I'm all cheered up why did you come this early?' Aerylin asked Nerida. 'Well, it's time for the festival' Nerida replied. 'What festival?' Aerylin asked once more. 'The SPRING GODDESS SUCCESSOR' Nerida replied. 'Well what's that?' Aerylin asked. 'The Spring Goddess is the protector of the tree of life surrounded by the crystal waters. The former Guardian, Liliha has lost the mark and now a new protector has to be chosen today' Nerida replied.

'So must I come?' Aerylin asked. 'Everyone needs to be there' Nerida replied. 'What if the protector is not amongst them, what then happens?' Aerylin asked. 'Then we all panic or travel to other elf villages within the eco-system' Nerida replied.

'Fine, I'll hurry over once I find my bracelets' Aerylin said. Immediately, Lord Shiku entered the room. Lord Shiku was Aerylin's uncle, actually her maternal uncle, i.e. her uncle from her mother's side. He wore a flowing regalia and rings on each finger. He also had a scar behind his ears that was almost 5 inches long. He also had muscles and a lot of biceps. He had green emerald eyes and white flowing hair.

His voice was let's say somewhat thunderous, and he was feared among the villagers. He got whatever he wanted from anyone he wanted it from and he could bend the rules for anyone who would do his biding, but his only anger where Aerylin was was that she could not be bent to obey his rules, neither was she asking anything from him.

Immediately he entered the room the two ladies looked right up to him. He gazed at them both for a while and then spoke 'Aerylin what are you still doing in bed?' he asked blinking and battering his eye-lashes a couple of times. He was trying to send signals to Nerida who was the water elf.

In their village, water elves could send signals using their minds. Nerida was only a novice at controlling her powers and so she did not understand the signals that Lord Shiku was trying to covey to her. 'I-I-, why do you care so much all of a sudden?' Aerylin asked while she muttered a few words.

'Why do you speak to your uncle in such a manner?' Lord Shiku asked moving further into the room. 'Oh, so you think that I don't know' Aerylin replied almost bursting into tears. 'Aerylin calm down, you do no need to talk to him in that manner, besides I can already feel the salt water accumulating in your eyeball' Nerida replied.

Aerylin then sniffed in her catarrh and tried removing the tears from her eyes but to no avail. Nerida noticed this discomfort and decided to help Aerylin. Nerida closed her eyes and stretched out her hands towards Aerylin's face, suddenly Nerida's eyes glowed blue and then the tears came out of Aerylin's eyes with ease. It then accumulated formed into a single drop. Soon the whole magic stuff was done.

'See' Nerida said trying to state a point, the continued 'Your tears are very precious and you should use them wisely and not throwing them around' Nerida said. Then, Lord Shiku froze the tears and cracked it into a million pieces.

'Now ladies, will you both stop boring me with your get-together ceremony and hurry off to the ceremony, you do not want to be late' Lord Shiku said.

'Why do you care if we are late or not?' Aerylin asked. 'He's right, we do not want to be late for the ceremony now let's go' Nerida replied. 'Fine for you I'll agree to go for you, not for this beast of an uncle' Aerylin said standing up and getting her bracelets.

'A little privacy please, must you always invade into my private life?!' Aerylin asked with rage. 'Please, Lord Shiku you must go, so that she does not get angrier than she already is' Nerida said to Lord Shiku who was already getting angry himself. He left without uttering a word to them. He was so angry that he slammed the door in a way that the feathers came floating down to the floor.

'So which dress do you pick?' Nerida asked.....
