Chapter 783 - Chapter 783: Snack-Hiding Expert

An interesting thing was that Mark Ruffalo's expressions and chest hair were captured, forming defining traits for this version of the Hulk.

So when the audience saw the Hulk on screen, they noticed he even had chest hair.

A Hulk with chest hair looked a little like something out of a Saint Fernando Valley adult film. Not to mention, Gilbert's works have always been popular adaptations in Saint Fernando Valley.

After The Avengers premiered, who knows if the Hulk in Saint Fernando Valley would also come with chest hair.

"The gamma readings perfectly match Selvig's report on the Tesseract, but processing the data will take a few weeks."

Human-form Mark Ruffalo was scanning Loki's scepter, while Tony Stark was quietly scheming.

"If we bypass their mainframe and directly connect to the core module, we could reach six quadrillion floating-point operations per second."

These lines had little scientific basis, but it didn't matter; the audience wasn't going to scrutinize the science anyway.

Once gods appear, logic takes a back seat.

The funniest thing about Robert Downey Jr. was his love of hiding snacks, especially on set.

During the filming of Inception, in the first-class airplane scene, the stewardess opened the dream machine, and inside were all the dried fruits and candies Robert had hidden.

After everyone burst into laughter, they ate the hidden snacks and continued filming.

It was the same this time. Robert had hidden a bag of raisins somewhere, and during a take, he naturally pulled them out and shared them with Mark Ruffalo.

This moment was so good that Gilbert kept the shot.

"You think I don't have any?" Tony Stark pulled out some raisins.

"Why is Nick Fury coming to us now, and not earlier? What has he been hiding from us? With incomplete information, I can't answer."

"Are you saying Nick Fury has been keeping something from us?"

"He's a spy, Captain, the king of spies. His secrets breed more secrets."

Tony Stark said this while popping raisins into his mouth, casually sharing them with Steve Rogers and Bruce Banner.

Obviously, Steve Rogers didn't eat any, but Bruce Banner had a few.

Later, Bruce Banner even agreed with Tony Stark's point of view, and judging from the snack-sharing alone, it showed that Bruce and Tony had similar tastes.

Although Steve Rogers didn't agree with Tony, the conversation clearly made him suspicious and prompted him to investigate further.

This scene combined humor with tension, and the humor came naturally from Robert Downey Jr.'s impromptu snack-hiding antics.

Song Hye-kyo watched the entire scene, expecting Gilbert to intervene and scold Robert Downey Jr.

In Korea, at least in the productions Song Hye-kyo had worked on, once the writer and director decided the direction, the actors couldn't make changes. Otherwise, they'd be in trouble. Korean directors' temperaments varied, but almost all had bad tempers.

But Gilbert didn't interfere; he let the actors perform.

Afterward, he even praised: "Amazing, Tony. Where did these raisins come from?"

Robert Downey Jr. touched his nose and said, "I hid them in advance. Want some? They're great."

Gilbert got up and took the bag of raisins from Robert's hand.

"I'm confiscating these, Tony."

"No problem."

Robert didn't mind and quickly pulled out another bag of dried fruits.

The set went silent for just over a second before everyone burst into laughter. Song Hye-kyo clicked her tongue in amazement; she hadn't expected the set atmosphere to be so lively.

Actors hiding snacks, and Gilbert didn't seem angry at all.

This is also part of Gilbert's directing style—or rather, many directors do this. As long as it doesn't affect the main plot or direction, actors' spontaneous performances aren't criticized.

And these sparks of creativity help develop character arcs and drive the story forward.

When wrapping up for the night, Scarlett accompanied them back. She flanked Gilbert with Song Hye-kyo on the other side, seemingly not wanting Song Hye-kyo to monopolize Gilbert.

"Why didn't you go shopping with Kate today?" Gilbert asked Sca with a smile.

Pouting, Scarlett said, "We had planned to, but Kate's husband, Ron Weisman, came to see her, so we had to cancel."

"Alright then!"

Gilbert didn't quite understand the superficial "plastic sisterhood" between Scarlett and Kate Beckinsale, but Scarlett herself seemed to be having a lot of fun.

"Be careful yourself. Kate Beckinsale is not an easy woman."

"I know that," Scarlett buried her head in Gilbert's chest and giggled. "Don't you think it's funny how someone who thinks they're so clever goes to every length to please me just to get something in return?"

Gilbert was speechless, as if he saw little horns sprouting from Scarlett's head, giving her the appearance of a little witch.

He turned to Song Hye-kyo and said, "You'll stay in Los Angeles a few more days. Is there any work waiting for you in Korea?"

Song Hye-kyo shook her head. "No, nothing scheduled recently."

"That's good," Gilbert said naturally, holding Song Hye-kyo's soft, delicate hand in his.

"I'll see what I can arrange. Maybe I can get you a small role in The Avengers. It should be helpful for your career."

Song Hye-kyo was pleasantly surprised and said gratefully, "Thank you… hubby?"

Calling him "sir" felt inappropriate; calling him "master" didn't feel right either. Directly using his name seemed impolite. Then she remembered that day Gilbert had told her to call him "hubby," so this time she used it.

Scarlett looked on in confusion. "Hubby? What kind of title is that? Is it something specific to Korea?"

In the U.S., lovers generally use nicknames or terms like "dear." The word "hubby" came from China; what Song Hye-kyo had just said was the Chinese term for husband.

Although Scarlett had picked up a few words of Chinese from spending time with Gilbert in China, she still didn't understand the meaning of "hubby." Song Hye-kyo, of course, didn't explain, blushing as she said:

"N-nothing."

Getting a cameo in The Avengers was a delightful surprise for Song Hye-kyo. This was Gilbert's work—a rare and valuable opportunity.

The strategy of exporting locally then bringing it home wasn't just popular in China; it was also common in Korea. However, the opportunities to branch out internationally mostly went to Korean male stars, like Jung Ji-hoon.

Korean female stars' main market was East Asia. Outside East Asia, they generally couldn't achieve much recognition. Unlike neighboring China, where at least one or two actresses could make a name internationally.

Back at the Melon Estate, seemingly aware of what Song Hye-kyo would face that night, Scarlett looked at her frail frame with some concern.

"When you can't handle it, call for help. Don't try to endure it alone."

Song Hye-kyo didn't quite understand what "can't handle it" meant, but she would soon find out.

After dinner, Gilbert first went to his study to handle some documents and then took a shower. Meanwhile, Song Hye-kyo, already prepared, washed up and dressed in a homey style reminiscent of Full House.

Gilbert opened the door and saw Song Hye-kyo propping her head with one hand, calling out to him, "Hubby."

It was clear that Song Hye-kyo was a little nervous, but that didn't matter; practice made perfect.
