Chapter 779, Won't Stab Me, Right?
Lilith's expression was cold, and as her gaze swept past Wu Heng, she couldn't help glaring at him.
Wu Heng pretended not to see, following behind the old steward as they walked into the living room.
"Chief Lilith." The three of them gave slight bows.
Lilith nodded lightly, "Sit."
The gifts were handed to the old steward, and the three each found a place to sit.
The steward carried the gifts to the side and began preparing tea and snacks.
"Are you settling in well here, Chief?" Sheila Grey, the local steward, was the first to speak.
Lilith responded indifferently, "It's just a temporary residence, but it's alright."
Sheila Grey nodded and continued to search for small talk topics, exchanging a few sparse lines with Lilith.
Wu Heng and Shiyali both stayed quiet—one was disliked by Lilith, and the other was just an assistant, so they just sat smiling.
After a bit of small talk, the room fell into an awkward silence. Sheila Grey couldn't think of a new topic, and Lilith remained silently seated.
Sheila Grey glanced at Wu Heng.
Wu Heng picked up the teacup and took a sip, "This tea tastes nice. Did the Chief bring it from HQ?"
Lilith sipped her tea and after a long moment, said slowly, "It's a mix of tea leaves collected from various places. If you like it, take some when you leave."
"Thank you, Chief," Wu Heng replied, feeling a bit relieved inside.
Since Lilith was willing to talk to him, it seemed her anger had cooled a bit.
He followed up smoothly, "Chief, Gold-Silver Island has been supplying necessities to Netalei City. Any idea how much longer we'll need to keep it up? Just so we can plan future procurement."
Lilith glanced at him, her voice soft, "Keep supplying. Things over there aren't over yet."
She was indeed getting intel from Netalei City.
Wu Heng followed up, "How's the investigation team doing?"
"What do you want to know?" Lilith said calmly.
Her loli-like appearance clashed with her regal, queen-like demeanor.
It created a strong contrast.
Wu Heng didn't beat around the bush—too much small talk would come off as fake, so he just asked directly, "I just want to know how the investigation team's doing. Is the royal family really involved with the cult?"
Lilith replied, "The investigation team has already made contact with some members of the cult."
Contact with the cult!
Lilith didn't say much, but combined with Shanaila's info, it was highly likely they'd already clashed.
The Guild had sent high-level Professionals along with the Chief. They weren't there to talk things out.
And the Reverent Holy Church dared to kill local stewards before—they weren't exactly pushovers.
"What about Chief Saidu?" Wu Heng asked.
"You interested in him?"
"Just asking. If he's coming back, I want to be prepared."
"He won't be back anytime soon. He's got plenty to deal with over there," Lilith said calmly.
Wu Heng smiled, "Good to know."
Lilith gave him a look as if saying, look at you—so petty.
"You elves are more knowledgeable about plants. Help me pick out some flowers for the garden," Lilith said again.
The group went to the courtyard to discuss planting flowers and greenery in the front and back yards.
Shiyali was more skilled in this area—she had chosen and planted the flora at the steward's estate too.
In the courtyard, Shiyali did most of the talking, explaining her plant choices.
Lilith actually listened quite attentively.
They chatted in the estate for a while.
Lilith had the old steward pack up some tea leaves for each of them, and the three took their leave.
...…
Once outside,
They all breathed a sigh of relief.
Lilith's aloof personality made her hard to get along with—it was a bit stressful.
Sheila Grey and Shiyali were both nervous during the chat, afraid of saying the wrong thing.
Wu Heng felt that Lilith wasn't as mad anymore, though there was still a bit of tension under the surface.
At least they got some info about Netalei City.
The investigation team sent to the Eko Kingdom really had made contact with cult forces.
And most likely, a fight had already broken out.
But the religious chief seemed fine and was still leading the team.
If he were injured or if the enemies were too strong, Lilith wouldn't have said he was just too busy to return.
This religious chief really wasn't all that.
Wu Heng thought they'd at least scare the cult into retreat—maybe even beat them head-on.
Should he supply them with weapons? Maybe get them to kill each other.
Better not. Given the current situation, it was safer to sit back and watch from the sidelines.
"Wu Heng, come eat with us instead—don't go back to the manor," Shiyali suddenly said.
Sheila Grey looked up too, eyes asking for his response.
Wu Heng thought for a moment. He didn't really have anything urgent, and it was about dinner time.
"Sure, that means Shiyali's cooking again."
Both women smiled. Shiyali said, "No trouble at all. Come by whenever you want to eat. Let's go—we'll get dinner ready sooner."
Wu Heng waved, "Come here, I'll teleport us."
"Huh? How do you do that?" Shiyali asked, curious.
The two had seen Wu Heng teleport before, but weren't sure how it worked.
"Stand close to me."
One on each side—Sheila Grey held his arm, and Shiyali wrapped her arms around his waist.
Wu Heng snapped his fingers, and a magic circle appeared beneath their feet.
As soon as the circle formed, the three of them vanished.
...…
When they reappeared, they were already at the steward's estate.
Shiyali gasped, "Wow, that's so convenient."
Sheila Grey nudged her, "Go get dinner ready."
"Got it. Wu Heng, anything you want to eat?" Shiyali asked with a smile.
"Anything's fine. With your cooking, it's all good."
Shiyali beamed, "Wu Heng really knows what to say. Unlike someone else who's always picky."
Sheila Grey just curled her lip and pretended not to hear.
The three of them entered the house. After the sisters changed clothes,
Shiyali went to the kitchen, and Sheila Grey stayed with Wu Heng in the living room, chatting.
"The Guild updated some wanted posters recently. Let me show you." Sheila took out a tablet from her storage ring and pulled up images of the wanted notices.
Wu Heng pulled her into his lap, resting his chin on her shoulder to look.
"None of them are high-level."
"There really aren't many left on the island. Putting Chief Lilith in the papers had some effect," Sheila said.
"I figured it would."
Wu Heng slid his hand under the elf girl's robe, undid her bindings, and grabbed her generous curves.
Sheila looked warily toward the kitchen, "Are you crazy? What if Shiyali sees?"
"Just be careful. You keep watch," Wu Heng said, kissing her neck as his hands roamed her body.
Sheila wanted to resist, but didn't really fight back.
She stared at the kitchen, body tense.
After a while, Shiyali called from the kitchen that dinner was ready.
Sheila quickly jumped up, adjusted her clothes, shot Wu Heng a glare, and they went to the dining room together.
...…
With limited time, the meal wasn't elaborate.
But still quite good.
Shiyali took out fruit wine from the cabinet, sat beside Wu Heng, and filled his glass. "We've got plenty. Take some home when you go."
Sheila Grey muttered, "Your tolerance is so low, and you still want to drink."
"Wu Heng doesn't come by often and doesn't have anything urgent. Let him relax," Shiyali smiled.
"You're making stuff up again," Sheila rolled her eyes.
Once everything was set, dinner officially began.
The three of them ate and chatted, laughter from the sisters occasionally filling the room.
After dinner, both sisters, slightly tipsy, leaned against Wu Heng's shoulders.
The honey wine had a sweet taste, but the buzz hit afterward. Wu Heng felt his face flush.
He had definitely drunk a bit too much tonight.
He gently touched Sheila Grey, resting on his right shoulder, and asked, "How are you feeling?"
Sheila lifted her head, cheeks rosy like a ripe peach, flushed with intoxicated color.
Hearing Wu Heng call her, she gave a soft hum, tilted her head up, and closed her eyes.
Wu Heng gently lifted her chin and pressed his lips to hers.
Sheila got more into it, more passionate, her hand slipping under his shirt to caress his chest.
Wu Heng pulled back slightly, "Shiyali's still here."
"It's fine. She sleeps like a rock."
Like hell she does.
Wu Heng said, "Let's take her to bed. Not comfy resting here."
Sheila nodded, "Alright, let's get her to her room."
Wu Heng picked up Shiyali and carried her upstairs, placing her in a bedroom.
Once she was settled.
The two came out, and Sheila pulled him into the room across the hall. They immediately embraced.
Soon, clothes came off, and the two lay on the bed.
...…
Late night.
Creak~!
The door opened. Wu Heng's eyes snapped open, looking toward the entrance.
Shiyali stepped in, wearing a light blue lace nightgown.
Shit.
Sheila swore Shiyali slept soundly and said it was fine to stay the night.
Now she was busted, middle of the night, caught in bed.
Felt like getting caught doing something bad by a parent.
Wu Heng kept his eyes closed, nervous.
He sensed Shiyali's footsteps stop beside the bed, as if she was just standing there, watching him.
She's not going to stab me, right?
