As they walked, they came to a school. Kaito wondered why, but still went in. When they reached the fourth floor, they stepped into a dimly lit classroom. Inside sat a group of teenage kids. The one who stood out first was Daxen, tall and calm, with dark hair that shimmered faintly like obsidian glass. His gift was control over shadows, bending them as if they were alive.
Beside him leaned Mira, a girl with bright silver eyes. Sparks flickered at her fingertips, dancing with electricity that hummed softly whenever she grew impatient.
At the back of the room lounged Ryo, a boy with a cocky grin. He snapped his fingers, and a small flame appeared, twisting and curling into the shape of a bird before vanishing with a puff of smoke.
On the windowsill sat Elara, quiet and watchful. The plants outside bent toward her unconsciously, drawn by her aura — she could command nature itself.
Next to her was Jin, a boy with icy blue hair and a serious expression. Frost clung to his hands, and the air around him dropped in temperature the closer Kaito got.
And finally, there was Liora, the youngest-looking of them all, but her gift was perhaps the most mysterious. Her eyes glowed faintly gold, and when she spoke, Kaito felt her voice echo not just in his ears but inside his mind. She was a telepath.
The room went quiet as all six pairs of eyes focused on him. Kaito's chest tightened. He had no idea why he had been led here, but one thing was certain — this was no ordinary school.
