Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Cover-Up

After the truth about the incident was told to the association heads, they suddenly moved and shut everyone's mouth by threatening if they disclose this matter that has happened. The Hunters who witnessed the event were gathered in a dimly lit room, their faces a mix of confusion and fear.

Evelyn stood at the front, her mind racing. "We need to tell them everything," she said, her voice shaky. "They have to know about the rift reopening and that mysterious guy."

Marcus nodded, his expression grim. "Yeah, but do you think they'll believe us? It sounds so… unreal."

As they waited, the door creaked open, and the association heads entered, their faces stern and unyielding. The room fell silent as the Hunters braced themselves for what was to come.

One of the heads, a tall man with a scar running down his cheek, stepped forward. "Explain what happened," he demanded, his voice cold.

Evelyn took a deep breath and recounted the events, from the rift reopening to the appearance of the young man who defeated the monster. The heads listened intently, their expressions unreadable.

When she finished, the room was silent for a moment. Then, the scarred man spoke again. "This information cannot leave this room," he said, his tone menacing. "If any of you speak of this to anyone, there will be severe consequences."

The Hunters exchanged uneasy glances. "But why?" Marcus asked, his voice trembling. "People need to know what's happening. They need to be prepared."

The scarred man narrowed his eyes. "This is not up for debate. The public cannot know about this. It would cause panic and chaos. We will handle it."

Evelyn clenched her fists, frustration boiling inside her. "And what about the guy who saved us? Who is he? Why did he disappear?"

The heads exchanged a look, then the scarred man spoke again. "That is none of your concern. Your job is to follow orders and keep this quiet. Do you understand?"

Reluctantly, the Hunters nodded. They had no choice but to comply. As they left the room, a heavy silence hung over them. The truth had been buried, and they were left with more questions than answers.

Evelyn turned to Marcus, her eyes filled with determination. "We can't let this go. We need to find out who that guy was and why the rift reopened."

Marcus nodded, his resolve hardening. "Yeah, but we have to be careful. If the association finds out we're digging into this, we're in big trouble."

Evelyn smiled faintly. "Since when have we ever played it safe?"

As they walked away, the weight of their new mission settled on their shoulders. They knew the road ahead would be dangerous, but they were determined to uncover the truth, no matter the cost.
