Eirenyssa's body spun through the air like a broken doll, blood trailing in an arc before she crashed against the barren earth. Dust plumed, stones cracked, and silence followed for a breath.
Zayne remained where he was—arms still folded, feet rooted, gaze sharp. His expression held no amusement this time, only a calm inevitability.
Staggering, the immortal goddess dragged herself upright. Blood smeared her chin, her once-pristine features now marred with swelling and bruises. Her trembling fingers brushed her cheek, disbelief widening her eyes.
"My face…" she whispered hoarsely.
Then her scream tore through the battlefield—raw, furious, hysterical.
"My beautiful face! You ruined my face, you mortal!!!"
Her aura erupted, blazing white light lashing across the surroundings. The ground cracked beneath her feet as waves of divinity pulsed outward, shredding the air.
