She had no way of knowing exactly what he wanted or planned, and his amiable attitude did not necessarily indicate anything other than the fact that he needed to keep on the good side of her father-in-law and husband. The more friendly he appeared, the better it would be for his negotiations, in that regard.
Which wasn't really a bad choice.
If she really were Princess Airie, she would have been a more likely candidate for helping sway Sidera to give him a good trade deal.
She could leverage Airie's actual connections, use the training and raising that Airie actually had, to get things done. At least as much as even Airie would be able to influence a man already planning to kill her.
But it was not like she had a whole lot of power in this place. Not her.
Rache didn't have those connections Airie had.
The parents of Airie would only go so far to keep up the illusion to protect their daughter - not the same as if their daughter were in the danger.
